Roxy’s Lisa Wiik @ the BEO
Lisa & Alexis
Time for Burton European Open again! Its always fun to come back to Laax where I had my first ever big contest in 2000. Wow, its already 8 years ago!
I was surprised when I saw all the snow on the trees on my way up to Laax. Last year it was just green fields all over the place…. Hope this season will be whiter then last year ☺
It was really good to have my Roxy team mate and fellow Norwegian Silje Norendahl at the open this year, she was riding so well and won the junior pipe and got second in the slopestyle. She’s got so much board control and natural talent, I know she’s going to be a huge star in the future!

The Weather has been treating us good this week, but I think it was a good idea to move the slopestyle down from the glacier anyway. The location for it was much better!(we didn’t have to get up as early either) You could actually train in the pipe and at the same time watch the slopestyle qualification from the start gate. The set up was fun with a good mix of boxes, rails, quarter pipe and two takeoff jumps. Even though only four girls or so were hitting the big take offs I think the small line gave us all a chance to show off a little bit. Cause it wasn’t scary at all, maybe a little bit too small, but that made it fun I think. You could still get some air time out of the first and the last small jump if you had enough speed. And I saw a couple of bad crashes from people that didn’t clear the big ones…but respect to the girls who were hitting them. Jenny was flying long and strong, as always. I think she has a magic board, she always has more speed then the rest EVERYTIME! And yes, I even did wax my board. Haha..

Jenny got second and Jamie 1s! Congratulations girls!!! My team-mates Margot and Kjersti was also riding the finals, you rock girls. Ending 5th and 7th position.

I think the wall ride ramp thing on the top was there just to please the crowd. I wish I had my camera on that thing all training long. A lot of fun crashes, but slides and Michael Jackson moves! There was a special move from Kjersti on the box, sliding on her knees but got herself up again landing on her feet! We named it the seal slide, Amazing! ☺
Since we didn’t have to ride the pipefinals the next morning, we went partying with Jenny and Jamie! Free drinks all night long. Yeah!

Today was the final day of BEO and it was the final of the pipe, the sun was out and the crowd was big. It was such an amazing final and the standard of riding was unbelievable. Torah bright was doing some incredibly technical runs and was stepping up the girls riding so much.

I really like how difficult her tricks are getting and she’s getting so much respect from all the riders up there including the guys. She was only just beaten by Kelly Clark who was going as big or if not bigger than some of the guys. I haven’t seen her ride in a while and she blew me away with how she was riding, it was really inspirational to watch and got me so stoked.
And by the way, I think the speaker should start to use the real names of the tricks cause its distracting sometimes…
See you next year in Laax!
Bye!:)
