Oh what a journey, after leaving Innsbruck at night and departure from Munich at 7am I landed in Moscow around noon. It was just stop over, but Sheremietievo airport is a legend. The international terminal is probably as chaotic as any other airport in 12mln city. Unfortunately to get to Chelyabinsk I had to catch my flight in internal flight terminal. The problem is that it’s on the total opposite site of the airport, almost an half an hour by bus. Flight to Chelyabinsk is another couple of hours. From Chelyabinsk is another 4h drive to Magnitogorsk. It’s an amazing scenery, after driving couple of hours you finally see the Ural mountains, dividing Europe from Asia.

Although it’s -18 C you can’t really feel it because due to very dry air (low humidity) and really sunny weather. Magnitogosk is an small but really nice resort and what is most important you can snowboard here till at least to midnight. BGV is Russian stays for Big/Grand Race of magazine “Vibieray” – this magazine started BGV in 2002. Magazine “Viberay” (something like English Time out – published in 25 biggest cities in Russia) BGV is the biggest Russian extreme sport event gathering all of the best Russian riders as well as some riders from Germany ,Finland and about 10 000 spectators (last year).

The set up of the park :

Big kicker + big pyramid + railes

Judging system:

Riders got most points on the big kicker (60%) pyramid was 35% of the over all score and the pipes ware just an additional 5%

Contest:

8 riders went from semi finals to final and after that 4 rider ware supposed to ride in the super final. Due to very event level of the competition (small point difference )Judges decided to put top 6 riders in to supper final.

Super final was dominated by finish riders, the winner was Tero Poikajarvi who did switch backside 7 tail grab on the big kicker and then went to big front side 630 on the pyramid (exact data from head judges so it must be truth). Second place was taken by also Finish rider Otto Veijola who did cab 9 on the main kicker and went for really stylish bs rodeo on the pyramid.

Third place was taken by German rider Alessandro – Boris Boyens who did nice cab 10 tail grab , however on the pyramid went just for FS Air. Forth place was taken by Russian rider from Moscow. With the strong backing from the audience he managed to glue bs 9 melon and went for huge bs Air.

Due to cold people ware warming up them selves with the all different ways.
Couple of German riders who didn’t manage to qualify to supper final was warming up them selves with the local specialty – Vodka (See top pic). Rest of the huge croud which has gathered on the event was warming them selves by massive fires!!

I just got my badge for the after party on which it is said “Special” so with strong believe in that I’m the Special one I will go to party……
