Three snow parks plus super-pipe at Kitzsteinhorn

September 2nd, 2008 by Da Bossmann

New super-pipe at the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park
Three snow parks plus super-pipe at the „Kitz“ • Glacier Park to open in October

A super-pipe is the newest addition to the Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park in Kaprun, Salzburg County, Austria. Additionally, in the 2008/09 season the three snow-parks DC Central Park, Roxy Park and Glacier Park will be optimised and the Easy Cross will be installed at a new location.

As soon as the snow conditions allow, from late December 2008 or January 2009 the freestyle set-up at Kitzsteinhorn will be enriched by another highlight: then, a 150-metre super-pipe with 5.5-metre walls will be built at the Sonnenkarbahn slope. Apart from the altitude (2,650 m), snow cannons will guarantee for enough snow. The pipe is exposed to the North to keep down solar radiation and to ensure the same conditions at both walls. The pipe will be prepared with a Zaugg PipeMonster.

Glacier Park: shred the autumn!
The Glacier Park at the Kitzsteinhorn glacier on nearly 3,000 m sea-level will be open from early October to mid of December. It offers up to 30 obstacles and seven lines. With 13 jumps and 17 rails and boxes, all beginners, advanced and pro riders will find something to play. Plus, the new rail line is not only accessible from the Magnetkoepfl lift but also from Kitz 1 lift.

DC Central Park: a new pro line
In the mid of December, the first event highlight of the season will take place at the Glacier Park when the world’s best female snowboarders will gather to the TTR 6-star comp Roxy Chicken Jam. After this, the Glacier Park’s set-up will be moved to the DC Central Park and the Roxy Park near Sonnenkarbahn. Compared to last season, particularly the upper part of the DC Central Park will be modified. There will be new lines for advanced and pro riders. The new pro line will have an own entrance and comprise three kickers from 12 to 15 metres plus a hip. Altogether, ten jumps and 16 rails’n’boxes will be erected at this park.

Roxy Park: for beginners and intermediates
The Roxy Park at the upper part of the Sonnenkarbahn is located directly next to the new super-pipe. It’s the park for beginners and intermediates offering a new easy kicker and rail line plus a seperate rail line. 18 features will attract the curious young snowboarders and new school skiers. In addition, there will be a new Easy Cross course with banks, jumps and waves at the Sonnenkarbahn slope.

But also riders who prefer to build their kickers at the backcountry or to surf the powder will find some nice spots at Kitzsteinhorn, especially at the Magnetkoepfl and Langwied lifts.
