SNOWBOARD MASTER DREW STEVENSON’S LATEST PROJECT

Posted by Skippy the Australian one legged hoping cripple On December - 30 - 2008

He is back – and he is back to fight for a good cause. Drew Stevenson, ‘The Godfather’ of snowboarding, as some may call him, has been a huge force in the development of snowboarding.  He has been involved in the creation of both Onboard and Method magazines and played a huge role in the development of the TTR World Snowboard Tour.  In 2008, he left the TTR Tour to trade the snowy Alps for the surf rich paradise of Costa Rica, locking himself away whilst working on his latest project ‘Breathe’.

Here are only some information about his new project  taken from the info pack that is available for download on www.breathecostarica.com (new website going online beginning of January)

MANAGING THE BEST OUT THERE

Posted by Da Bossmann On December - 29 - 2008

Being on tour with some of the world’s best snowboarders, riding, hanging out and partying together doesn’t sound too bad, does it?! However, it also means being on the road for months and months  straight, going from competition to competition,  getting time and travel schedules together and at the end of the day, being the one who has to make the tough decisions which contest his riders (mostly Shaun White) will attend. Adam Moran dropped his skis for a snowboard when he was a  little boy – all it took was a snowboard for Christmas from his dad and as you may have guessed: he has not gone back to the skiing ever since. He has been working for Burton Snowboards for the last 6 years and loves his job as Riders Manager and Photographer (ok – it is not really a job that you can hate doing). TOKYO IMPRESSIONS

Posted by Da Bossmann On December - 14 - 2008

The Nissan X-Trail Jam in Japan is definitely one of the most popular events amongst riders, however, just gets little photo coverage in countries apart from Japan. Therefore, we decided to put up some additional photo footage to tell a lil more about what’s going on in Tokyo…but don’t expect too many party pics (although many people did not get any sleep in Japan becasue of too much partying) – comp is what counts here now. Hope you enjoy.

Photo N° 1: Chas and all the other riders are treated well – always someone handing water after each run. They needed that water, too…lots of hiking going on here. Photo (c) RIP Read the rest of this entry »

TTR Judge Nina Rydelek Gives You The Low-Down

Posted by Skippy the Australian one legged hoping cripple On December - 12 - 2008

At the 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam we caught up with TTR Judge Nina Rydek to find out how she got in judging.  Contary to popular belief you don’t have to be a snowboard pro to get into judging.  All you need is a good understanding of tricks, style and a passion for snowboarding.

I got into judging TTR snowboarding 5 Years ago I took part in a clinic with Tom Wagner and after some judging and practicing for 2 years they asked me if I wanted to be in the organization for Germany.  Right now I have been judging for 5 years and we have judge clinics in Germany were we build up new judges and get people involved.  There are many girls interested in Judging and wondering how it works.  They should get involved!

For more info on how you can get involved judging go to http://www.ijc.info

First 6Star TTR Event of 08/09 Season. The Countdown Begins….

Posted by Mr OFF On December - 1 - 2008

The count down is on… The first 6 Star men’s title for the 0809 season is up for grabs. The Nissan X-Trail Jam in Tokyo Dome is set to push the level of competition once again. With the likes of Travis Rice against a star studded line up including Terje Hakonsen , Peetu Piiroinen, Andreas Wiig, Risto Mattila, Nicolas Müller, Torstein Horgmo, Chas Guldemond and Sebastien Toutant It is set to be a battle  with 6 of Japans best riders over a 2 day Quarter Pipe & Big Air event.

TTR caught up with Travis Rice at the “THATS IT THATS ALL” premiere in Munich a few weeks back and this is what Travis had to say

“I so looking forward to coming to the Nissan X-Trail in just a couple of weeks. As we’ve all seen over the years, it’s going to be a battle of nations, a battle of wits, battle of skills. Nissan X-trail Jam in Tokyo Dome its coming up all so quickly and I’m looking forward to it”  Travis Rice

The 16 year young Sebastien Toutant received a late invitation on his merits of both quarter pipe riding and big air trickery. Including his own version of the backside double cork…Check the video out here for a tease of what’s to come from the young gun

We got this out of the shy French Canadian Sebastien just after hearing about his invite.

“I think this contest will have good crowd, good riders, a perfect jump and a lot of fun” Sebastien Toutant .

Well not exactly fighting words, but I’m sure the 45,000 strong crazed Japanese fans will fire the young fellow up.Check out the event Teaser Video Below:
