PRACTICE DAY 1 IMPRESSIONS FROM TAC 2009

Posted by A.Dawg On February - 17 - 2009

The snowboarding Oslo will see this week will be truly 6Star if not from a different world. The Oakley Arctic Challenge arena up at Linderudkollen 15 minutes outside the city is pretty magical. Today’s riding started with a couple of little powder runs with mini cliffs, jumps and the occasional spray to warm up. Terje was the first to drop into Claes’s 10,6m beauty of a quarter and kept building meter after meter on this first hit all day, landing some of the smoothest BS Airs quarterpipe riding has ever seen. THE ARCTIC CHALLENGE SOUND(TRACK)

Posted by Da Bossmann On February - 16 - 2009

Killing Machine has existed as a band since 9/11 2001 and has remained just as hardcore ever since. Although their name represents bad-image-hardcore-stuff, KM turned into a military-shot-out-band supporting the war AGAINST terrorism. Today, after 8 years of of solid heavy load music, doing about a 1000 gigs all over the world, the band has turned into a bunch of older musicians stuck in a smoky studio in eastern Norway. But we always come back. This year with a brand new 6Star song made by TAC`s CEO, Henning Andersen, supported by Techrider`s Thomas North, “On Tour Again”. Hope you guys enjoy it. See you back at The Arctic Challenge in Oslo! (if you can’t be there – watch the webcast)

JAMIE NICHOLLS – RULE BRITANNIA

Posted by Mr OFF On February - 16 - 2009

jamie nicholls portraitGrowing up in Northern England isn’t easy. You keep your head down, try not to get noticed and then try and escape when your friends, family or girlfriend aren’t looking! We grow up in a culture of teen pregnancy, minimum wage, and alcohol abuse — which at times isn’t so bad. Most children growing up see sport as the only option to live the life television has promised.

We don’t have the facilities or the climate for most of the sports we participate in, but we try our god damn hardest. To put it bluntly were a nation of underdogs, and our snowboarders are no exception. The highest mountain in England is just a big hill. At just 978 metres, Scafell Pike, doesn’t even get a cool name.

Fortunately things are looking up for us Limeys. In the last 10 years we’ve seen two indoor slopes built which will shelter you from the elements and provide our bodies with much needed elevation. One young lad who has braved these elements and conquered the elevation is Jamie Nicholls, England’s shining light in the Snowboarding world. He might only be 5′ 3″ and 15 years old, but he’s running with the big dogs, showing the world what England does best … try very hard. Read the rest of this entry »

CHRIS KROELL IN THE ZONE OF DEATH

Posted by Da Bossmann On February - 8 - 2009

I have never been to Russia just for a contest, but this time there was the opportunity to go to the „BGV winter festival“ in Magnitogorsk.
Sounded good to me but where the fuck is Magnitogorsk  i was asking myself…i googled it in the internet and found 3 things about magnitogorsk… First hit was 2 nuclear reactor accidents in 1958, the second said it is the 4th dirtiest place on the Planet voted by the UNESCO and the last one said that it is the biggest industrial zone in Russia and since there was only asbestos factories it was also called „zone of the death“..
Ohhh so that is where we are going i thought to myself… nice….  but i was still looking forward to see how this event would be ..

First of all i have to say that it surprised me because the set up, besides little speed troubles was actually really good and fun to shred and that’s what was the most important for me. It was a Slopestyle, with 2 jumps and a jib box wallride combo at the end.. after a while everyone was charging it …..and i liked the parties because Russians just know how to do proper parties

We had enough days training to get set on the jumps and the event itself was nice to ride because of even less stress… it seems like Russians have always all the time they need… i liked it though.
It was a really good contest for the crowd i would say, and our Austrian Crew, with the Finish and the Swedish guys had a lot of fun… and Teo Konttinen took home 1st place… i think that i will check it out next year too…

Till next time
