Antti Autti lives HERE!!

Antti Autti lives HERE!!

http://www.vimeo.com/7576397If you wanna see what it looks like to combine a smoke machine, halogen lights, a frozen Finnish Halfpipe, with the infamous Antti Autti, the 08/09 Swatch TTR World No. 3. check out his brand new website  www.anttisworld.com. Mr Autti has released the first installment of his seasons video blogs called ‘Smoking the pipe’, and promises more is on the way!!

The site was launched at the start of the month to co-inside with the official start of the Finnish snow season and major consumer trade expo, Board Expo at Helsinki’s exhibition centre.
“I am stoked to finally get the site live and I can start creating content for all snowboarders out there in the web world” said Antti earlier in the month from the fair centre. “This project has been a long time in the making and I hope that it will give some stoke back to everyone as well as help me develop my snowboarding as a professional.”

Smoking the pipe was filmed in conjunction with Flatlight Films in April of 2010 in Antti’s home resort of Ounasvaara in Rovaniemi Finnish Lapland. The shoot features Antti riding through a smoke screen created by Smoke machines. “The shoot was essentially a test for something bigger we want to do later this season and bring it to you through anttisworld.com. It turned out pretty solid the first time around though so we thought it would make a great early season filler for the site.” Said Antti.

Anttisworld.com will feature regular video updates and blogs from Antti and his friends as they shred the 2009-10 season. Selected trips and highlights throughout the season will be featured in HD, with filming and production being provided by Finnish film company, Flatlight Films.

Anttisworld.com also features a sneak peak at the soon to be launched A+ snowboards Antti is creating in collaboration with NDKreactive, a division of the Nidecker corporation.

ELIAS ELHARDT

It was a great weekend among friends at the Dachstein glacier. Like every year, the atmosphere was friendly, the park amazing and the nights…well…long. But, as we are a hardworking crew at TTR and NEVER party (lol), we were not able to upload any party pics but you surely find some on the Pleasure Jam website. In case you didn’t make it to the Pleasure Jam, check out the images below and make sure you get your b..t down there next time ;)

A  rider, that has not made the press releases but is definitely worth keeping an eye out for is 12-year old Ty Walker from Stratton, Vermont/USA. Such a small girl that did not go for the small kickers once…the way to go girl! You will find more about her in one of the upcoming blogs – promised!

“BILLABONG FLAUNT IT” – ALL GIRLS SERIES NOW ON THE TTR TOUR!

Posted by Vi-YO-la On November - 16 - 2009

http://www.vimeo.com/7792909

“FIaunt It gives girls a chance to show their real skills and to possibly step up to the next level.” Says Catherine Desrochers, one of the event organizers. On its first year on the Swatch TTR Tour there are six 2Star Flaunt it Series events spread all over the US and Canada, and the seventh and final event of the series is held at Mt Tremblant and with 3Stars it gives the girls a great opportunity to flaunt it. Check out this interview with Catherine, as well as the photos and video. Don’t miss out on this awesome series of events!

How and why did you start organizing this event?
Flaunt It started as a single event in March, 2007, as we (Billabong) felt that there should be more opportunity for girls to showcase their snowboarding through friendly competition.  After the success of the first event held at Mt. Tremblant, we decided the following year to turn it into a North American contest series and added more Canadian stops and a stop in the USA. Flaunt It is now entering its fourth year with 2 stops planned for the USA and 5 in Canada! Flaunt It was created to provide female riders with a legit snowboard contest and a platform to progress on a competitive level.

Can you tell me a bit about the girls running it?
There are several people that all help make the Flaunt It tour a success each year, but the the two key people that run point on the tour are Catherine Desrochers and Amy Sorenson.  Catherine runs point of the Canadian events. She has been working for the brand for over 6 years, based out of the Canadian office located in Montreal, QC.  She first joined the Billabong team working for our Quebec sales agency, and was then brought in house to work directly for Billabong Canada as a marketing coordinator for the women’s division.  In addition to Catherine, Amy Sorenson runs point on the US events, as she is based in our US head office in Irvine California. Amy is a veteran of the action sports industry and has an extensive marketing and athlete management background.

What is the atmosphere at the event like compared to a mixed gender event?
Really relaxed and friendly.  While most might be there to win, having fun and meeting new friends is a large aspect to the tour and what makes it such a success.

What level does a rider have to be to participate?
We usually try to have a few options available on course catering to different levels of riding. Starting with the girl who would like to come enjoy a fun day of riding and get started on the contest scene, to the more advanced sponsored rider who is aiming for the podium, collecting valuable TTR points, and taking home some cash . The final event is open to all riders but the level of riding is definitely a little more advanced, as the $10k cash prize attracts a few top riders from across the country.

How have the winners profited from the event apart from the prize money and Swatch TTR points?
FIaunt It gives girls a chance to show their real skills and to possibly step up to the next level.  We did put a girl on our program through the event last year, and I’m sure other brands have done the same as well.

Could you tell me about your favorite memory from last years events?
It was warm and sunny day last year during the final event in Tremblant, and I remember the athletes were having such a blast cheering each other on and showcasing their skills. After the event we invited all the riders & some friends for a private party were they could enjoy some food, drinks and sweet vibes. It was awesome to all hang out together after the contest and get loose.

What was the best trick on last years event?
Well, with 7 events there are a lot of good tricks getting thrown down through style and technically.  A few that stand out were some stylish cab and switch backside 5’s on the jumps.  The girls were dominating the rails at the finals last year, but a couple include a Switch bs 180 to 50/50 on a down ledge, lots of front boardslides, as well as a few nice backlips…just to name a few.

What are the other “activites” (party etc) happening around the event?
We have been having some pre-registration parties at the US events.  For example we had an awesome karaoke night with Jamie Anderson and her family at a local eatery and invited the girls who had pre-registered to join us for some food and drinks. There also has been after parties for the Blue Mountain & Tremblant event.  Will have more info in regards to parties posted on the Flaunt It website www.billabong.com/flauntit , here on the TTR site, as well as come find our Facebook group to find out what else will be happening for the 2010 Flaunt It season.

CURRENT WORLD NO1. TOUTANT JOINS RIDE TEAM

Rampant rumors have been confirmed by Ride Snowboards that 17-year-old Quebecois phenom Sebastien Toutant is the newest member of Ride’s International snowboard team.

Sebastien Toutant, affectionately known as Seb Toots, is a Montreal-based shredder that has stomped his way to the top of the current TTR leader board by taming some of the biggest snowboard contests around the world. His latest accomplishments include winning the Freestyle Berlin Big Air, claiming second place at the Freestyle.Ch. Big Air comp and crushing the Burton NZ Open slopestyle event. Last season Seb captured Ride’s attention by winning the Ride Shakedown event in front of 20,000 fans at Mt. Saint Sauvier, Quebec, for the second time.

“What’s this kid going to do next?” said Matt Sickels, Ride’s team manager. “He has the ability to win every event he enters. Whatever he does, we’re glad he’s going to be doing it with a Ride board and bindings. He’s a rising super talent who’s just getting started.

Ride looks for versatility in its pro riders and which it found in Seb, according to Sickels.

“It wasn’t only Seb’s big air and slopestyle skills that impressed us but his professional approach to his career that is only equaled by the fun he is having. Seb is a super well-rounded snowboarder that shows potential in all disciplines of snowboarding. He’s joining a team that is the most progressive in the industry and his input will play a big role in helping Ride continue to develop state-of-the-art products.”

“Ride is the real deal,” Seb said. “The gear gets it done like no other. I’ve been a fan forever so being on the team is so sick! It’s perfect timing and I want to grow with a team and a brand that keeps bringing snowboarding to the next level.”

PHOTOS FROM WOMEN IN BOARDSPOARTS RETREAT (WIB)

Posted by Vi-YO-la On November - 11 - 2009

Women from all corners of the world gathered in Saas Fee, to meet and discuss their work and common passion for boardsports. We heard some inspirational stories form the lives of Nicola Thorst, Maritxu Darrigand and Donna Carpenter. Many interesting issues were discussed, such as how to balance work life and life as a mother, new female boardsports initiatives, female riders in the media etc. It was great to hear the views of journalists, photographers, magazine editors, shop owners, riders, PR and marketing people and many more. Of course there was some relaxation involved -yoga, spa and cocktails. Big thanks to Daniela Meyer (Popcorn Saas Fee) and  Carmela Fleury (Les Ettes) for starting this great initiative and bringing up many of such interesting topics of discussion for women working in the boardsports industry.

Shock Horror!

Posted by Mr OFF On November - 3 - 2009

After a great Halloween we decided to take a moment to recap some of the best costumes sported by TTR riders. We searched high and low across the internet to come up with the top three pictures from Halloween ‘09.

In 3rd place with this shockingly poor effort is Kjersti Buass, Lisa Wiik and Helene Olafsen. At least you made the effort girls.

In 2nd place with this Cartoon character affair is Michelle Zeller and Moe Takeda.

And last but not least, 1st prize goes to Shaun ‘Wendy’ White for this rather fetching outfit. Thank you Tony Hawk for posting this, thank you very much.
