Dani Kiwi Meier Interview on method.tv

For 2010/11, major events on the Swatch TTR World Tour have agreed to work together to expand and implement the Snowboarding Live Scoring System (SLS) for all halfpipe, slopestyle and big air competitions for the upcoming 2010/11 season.  The Live Scoring System is planned to be introduced across all 6Star TTR events in an effort to break down barriers posed by the current Overall Impression system and to improve the presentation and understanding of competitive freestyle snowboarding as a whole.

postheadericon PARTNER NEWS: BURTON AND PAUL SMITH COLLABORATE ON 2011 VAPOR BOARDS

Burton 2011 Vapor_lo res

As a sequel to their previous cutting-edge product collaborations, Burton Snowboards and leading British fashion designer
Paul Smith have once again teamed up for the Winter 2011 season. This time, their collective partnership moves from apparel and outerwear to hardgoods, with the co-design of the 2011 Burton Vapor snowboard.

Available this month in Burton authorized retailers worldwide, the Burton Vapor snowboard represents both the finest in snowboard technology and artistic design. This season it sets a new standard of polish and refinement, with its sleek graphics styled by Paul Smith. The black, glossy topsheet is strong and sophisticated featuring Paul Smith’s signature and Burton branding, while the base graphic delivers a powerful statement with the tip-to-tail pop of Paul Smith’s iconic multi-color palette.

“It’s always a pleasure to work with the crew at Paul Smith,” says Greg Dacyshyn, Chief Creative Officer at Burton Snowboards. “This is our fourth collaboration, and the two brands really have become connected in our understanding of one another. Creating a snowboard together was the natural next step, and the Vapor was the perfect platform, given its legacy for rider-driven technical innovation combined with iconic designer-driven graphics. Paul Smith epitomizes what the Vapor is all about, and they took it to the next level with the 2011 model.”

“Burton Snowboards is a company I admire very much and I have enjoyed working with them over the past four years,” says Paul Smith. “To see my signature stripes on such an innovative piece of equipment as the Vapor snowboard is a great compliment.”

The 2011 Burton Vapor snowboard sets the industry standard when it comes to high-tech snowboard construction. Taking engineering cues from NASA, the Vapor is one of the lightest and most responsive boards on snow. Quite simply, it brings out the best of anyone who gets on it.

The Burton Vapor retails for € 1.000.  For more information on the Burton x Paul Smith Vapor, stop by your local snowboard shop, a Burton flagship store or visit www.burton.com.

postheadericon “Hu Am I?”

"Hu Am I?" Video 2010

We have just received the new video from the mellowparks team in China. These guys have been very successful organizing the  4Star Red Bull Nanshan Open over the last years. If you wanna see their latest project check out the video teaser below:

With the “Niu” year behind us, we’ve now entered the Year of the Tiger – ‘Hu’ in Chinese. This year’s movie ‘Hu Am I?’ showcases the best of Chinese snowboarding, as our favourite pastime grows momentum in the Middle Kingdom.

The third full-length snowboard movie from Mellowparks.cn, ‘Hu Am I?’ features shred sessions with well-known riders Wang Longsheng (Andrew), Steve Zdarsky, Marco Huang, Wang Lei, He Wei (Xiao Hu), Sun YiMing (Mingming), Zhang Wei, Xiao Guo, Li Jie (Jay) & Liu Li as well as all our friends that stopped by along the way!
Shot primarily at our home base in the Quiksilver Nanshan Mellow Park, we also travel to Wanlong Ski Resort for some freeriding and hit up the Nike 6.0 Summer Lab over the off-season for some indoor shredding.

A big thanks goes out to Quiksilver, Nitro, Dakine, Nike 6.0, Nanshan Ski Resort, Wanlong Ski Resort, Capita, Union, Raiden, Nixon, Kagen, CityWeekend and Speed Snowboard for all their support – without them this project would not be possible.

The full-length ‘Hu Am I?’ movie will be released FREE for download October 2010. See you then!

postheadericon IMPRESSIONS OF THE SWATCH TTR ART RULES NIGHT BARCELONA

FAD Exhibition Center (c) Giacomo_Margutti_snowbox.it

We all know the image: snowboarders only wear baggy pants (sometimes now real skinny rocker pants, too), drink too much and can’t behave properly at parties….well…let’s say that the gala night in Barcelona definitely proved the first stereotype to be untrue! Everyone tried their hardest to show up in an impressive outfit to shine on the red carpet and to make this event a full success.

Maybe we also proved the third stereotype to be untrue considering  the amount of free booze that was consumed and that we left the FAD Exhibition Hall in one piece (not like the hotel roof top afterparty area). It was a fun night with great people in a sick location. Barcelona rocks!
