Riders are going off in Andorra at the 4-STar Grandvalira Total Fight. Blue bird skies and one sick park is all any one needed to tear it up and set the bar for the next few days of competition. The qualified riders listed below threw down today and made the list to compete against the invited riders in the Expression Session on Saturday. Look forward to a heated finale in one of the best snowboard contests on the Spanish scene. Read the rest of this entry »

So, the men’s Swatch TTR Tour finally concluded at the Burton US Open 2008 after a season full of thrills and spills, pipes and powder, and more drama than Broadway. Kevin Pearce prevailed in a nail-biting finale, beating out Peetu “3rd Place” Piiroinen, Risto Mattila, and a late surge from Shaun White to take the TTR Title along with the Swatch TTR’s behemoth 20kg trophy. Pearce fully deserved the title after proving himself to be master of all condition and terrain taking wins in multiple TTR formats: Stadium Slopestyle, Quarterpipe, and Halfpipe.

Oh what a journey, after leaving Innsbruck at night and departure from Munich at 7am I landed in Moscow around noon. It was just stop over, but Sheremietievo airport is a legend. The international terminal is probably as chaotic as any other airport in 12mln city. Unfortunately to get to Chelyabinsk I had to catch my flight in internal flight terminal. The problem is that it’s on the total opposite site of the airport, almost an half an hour by bus. Flight to Chelyabinsk is another couple of hours. From Chelyabinsk is another 4h drive to Magnitogorsk. It’s an amazing scenery, after driving couple of hours you finally see the Ural mountains, dividing Europe from Asia.

Chas Guldemond wins rail session © TTR
The Honda Session, a Swatch TTR FIVE(5)STAR Event, went off last night in Vail, Colorado, USA. A good mix of riders came out to Vail despite the crazy weather that has been making travels a bit difficult in Colorado. Things kicked off at the Session, with the Steel & Sky rail jam, getting everyone pumped up for Saturday’s Slopestyle contest. Read the rest of this entry »

Benedek Pow’ Slash - © Tim Zimmerman
A down day for the FOUR(4)STAR Quiksilver Natural Selection competition meant a good day for riders to get out in the deep pow and get some shots with the multitude of photographers and cinematographers on site for the event.
The TTR crew was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at tomorrow’s contest venue, Casper Bowl, as Travis Rice and all the riders competing packed out a couple of hits in preparation for the last day of competition. The guys packed down a run-in for a huge hip jump and a couple of other booters on the course.

The Quiksilver Natural Selection, a Swatch TTR FOUR(4)STAR event, kicked off on Saturday in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Riders were greeted with tons of fresh powder for the first day of competition held in an area of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort known as Dick’s Ditch. Hiking Casper Bowl - © Scott Sullivan
It has been DUMPING at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for the past week and the snow still has not let up. This is both good and bad for the Quiksilver Natural Selection, a Swatch TTR World Tour Four (4) Star Event, as the organizers have been waiting for optimal pow’ conditions, but the weather has been making visibility a bit tough to run the contest. So, it’s a good thing that the event organizers built in a seven-day holding period to make sure conditions are right.

It was really warm out today, highly irregular for the beginning of February in the Austrian Alps, but that didn’t stop the riders from getting in some training on the Quarterpipe the day before the Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck.
Despite the high winds, riders were still going huge, reaching 7 and 8 m. The question is, will we see any of the riders break Terje Haakonsen’s Quarterpipe record of 9.8 m? Jack Mitrani seems to think so claiming that he’s “trying to go for that 20m mark.” Optimism is always a good thing so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Riders from all over the world flew straight into a glassed cage of emotion. The Billabong Air & Style riders were requesting guided TTR office tours, and at 3:20 pm the idea of a major office refurb was born. Drew Stevenson knew exactly what to do. He got into the Method Mag storage facility, wheeled out a portable ping pong table and pushed it for at least 2km through congested mid-day Austrian traffic. Check the video teaser below, with more to come soon :)… nothing more to be said but that it was so F@#%&ING FUNNY.
