postheadericon TTR BURTON CANADIAN OPEN 2012 RESULTS

The TTR 5Star Burton Canadian Open 2012 presented by MINI is all over. Again the Canadian Open played host to some of the best riding in North America. The vibe, scene and the riding were pretty much next-level in both the Slopestyle and Halfpipe.  Check out below to see the results from both!

Slopestyle Results

Mens
1 Chas Guldemond USA $10,000
2 Justin Morgan USA $5,000
3 Brandon Reis USA $2,500

Womens
1 Jamie Anderson USA $10,000
2 Sina Candrian SUI $5,000
3 Stefi Luxton NZL $2,500

As usual, Chas Gludemond and Jamie Anderson were unstoppable at the TTR Burton Canadian Open 2012 at COP in Calgary.

The course of the Slopestyle Canadian open consisted of three rails, three jumps and the MINI Creative Use of Space feature where there was $2,500 cash prize for the finalist who landed the most creative tick on this feature. As well as winning the Slopestyle Womens, Jamie Anderson was the one to take home this cash prize, meaning she walked away with $12,500 in total.

Though the girls gave Anderson a run for her money, Jamie’s run consisted of a Cab five, Backside five, and Switch Backside five, as well as rad rail trickery and walked away with the win by about fifteen points.

For the men, Chas Guldemond took home the win, although he had a tough competition with Justin Morgan from upstate New york who give him a serious run for his money. Chas held a commanding lead through the first two runs, but Justin–who dropped before him in the second run–landed a Switch Backside nine, a Front ten, and a Double Backside Rodeo to take the lead. Chas dropped in and regained the lead, making Morgan’s victory hopes short lived. Chas’s run consisted of a Switch Back nine, a Back Ten Double Cork, and a Double Backside Rodeo, and he deserved to take the number one spot. Third place went to New Hampshire native Brandon Reis who put down a run of Sevens and Nines that wowed both the crowd and the judges.

Halfpipe Results

Women
1 Queralt Castellet ESP $10,000
2 Gretchen Bleiler USA $5,000
3 Ellery Hollingsworth USA $2,500

Men
1 Ryo Aono JPN $10,000
2 Markus Malin FIN $5,000
3 Janne Korpi FIN $2,500

Riding in the women’s there was Gretchen Bleiler, Cilka Sadar, Hannah Teter, Queralt Castellet, Ellery Hollingsworth, Sarah Conrad, and Ursina Haller battling it out under the lights. Surprisingly, Kelly Clark was absent from the final despite qualifying second in semifinals. Rumour has it she got a little jacked in practice and decided to play it safe due to the amount of events still left on her plate this winter. The cold kept the pipe from getting too rutted out, and the ladies rode insanely well. In the end though, the underdog finally had her day. Queralt Castellet not only took home first, but she also became the second woman ever to land a 1080 in competition (behind none other than Kelly Clark). Queralt killed it and earned herself $10,000, while Gretchen grabbed second and Ellery third.

In the mens field the top three spots went to Finnish riders Janne Korpi and Markus Malin who locked down third and second respectively, and the man of the night was Ryo Aono. Ryo went big and came away with the win and $10,000 in his pocket.

NIKE CHOSEN RESULTS 660x347 THE NIKE CHOSEN SERIES: 2ND & 3RD STOP

The second stop of The Nike Chosen Series saw riders traveling from all corners of the country to Funasdalen, Sweden.

Even though it was the first time many of the riders went over a kicker this winter due to the lack of snow in the early season, you wouldn’t have guessed it. All riders treated the crowd to a demonstration of style and tech in the finals in Sweden.

The lollipop got a working with Joel Anderson sticking a BS 360 Nosebonk and Simon Ahlvu showing his experience by pulling a crazy BS Rodeo Handplant.
Over on the kicker Philip Landmark stamped his technical prowess with a series of spins including a front 10, Karl-Anton Svensson bent his way around a super rare FS 720 Double Tailgrab and Joel Anderson stalled out a floaty back 5 no-grab before stomping a Double Backside Rodeo late in the jam.
The winner of the MVP was judged to be Anderson who threw it down all day with confidence and will be given an invite the Nike Chosen Sessions in April to session with the Nike Pros on a purpose built park, and the chance to be the overall “Chosen Rider”.

SECOND STOP1 660x184 THE NIKE CHOSEN SERIES: 2ND & 3RD STOP

The third stop was in Kronplatz, Italy where a foot of fresh snow fell over night, the expert F-Tech shaper crew pulled out the stops to make Kronplatz, Italy, proud with an immaculate kicker for the 3rd stop of the Nike Chosen Series.

From the off, local brothers Daniel (Back 7 Melon to shifty) and Oliver Reichegger (Front Rodeo 5 Stiffy) took the event by the reins, laying down a huge variety of spins and double grabs which saw them sail into the finals. Joining them in the 10-man cut was Alex Reiner (Front 7 double tail) and David Mahlknecht (Front 10 Melon).

The finals saw the biggest variation of double grabs so far on the 9-stop tour. Daniel Reichegger was consistent throughout using the kicker and the bonk feature in equal measure giving the judges a stoke with a floated miller flip, classic stylish Cab 5s, a maverick back 5 double nose grab and a backside 9 nose grab – the award for MVP (most valuable player) was never in doubt.

Daniel wins a ticket to Nike Chosen Sessions to ride with the Nike Pro team on a purpose built park where he will compete to become the overall Nike Chosen Series Winner.
