The ticket presale for the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck- Tirol 2012 has started as of 1st of October 2011 – 24 top riders within a new contest format/Band Line-up represented by Beatsteaks and Sido.

The Air & Style format will slightly change this year, providing more excitement for both the riders and the crowd. This year, 12 riders will battle it out in the qualification to get one of 4 spots and to eventually advance to the main field with the 12 invited riders.

The chance of winning the Air & Style Ring of Glory will again attract the best of the best with plenty of triple corks in store. In order to be part of the party at the “boiling pot” Bergisel the rush for the most desired tickets will be strong as every year.

We will see who has started well into the season at the Oakley & Shaun White present Air & Style Beijing 2011 on December 3rd, 2011, when the top riders travel to China. For the first time ever the Oakley & Shaun White present Air & Style Beijing 2011 will take place at the National Stadium, better known as the Bird’s Nest. It’s going to be bigger, louder and with way more style!

Check out this video on Norwegian shredder Stale Sandbech at the 6Star Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck. Stale is currently placed World No 21. and due to an injury has been sitting in the audience of the last few TTR events. He is one to watch out for in the future….

TTR NIKE 6.0 AIR & STYLE MUNICH 2011 AROUND THE CORNER

11.000 spectators turned up to the Air & Style in Innsbruck last Saturday and witnessed a festival of great tricks and good vibes. Now the Air & Style crew moves on to Munich where the assembly for the Nike 6.0 Air & Style Munich 2011 on February 12^th is progressing very well. After the construction of the frame, the snow is now transferred with cranes to the 40 meter high Ramp and the landing. Over 2.000 m³ of snow are required to create optimal conditions for the riders which include Peetu Piiroinen, Werner Stock, Seppe Smits, Ethan Morgan, Sebastien Toutant and more.

The riders of the 6Star Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck are training and side events are amping up crowds for the main event aroudn town. Innsbruck is in “event-mode” and happy to host the 6Star event in the heart of the Austrian Alps. But for all those who can’t be at the event in person, Freecaster tries to put a smile on your face anyway by providing the Live Webcast.

This time it’s a premier: The Freecaster Live Webcast of the Billabong Air & Style can be watched in four different languages: German, English, French and Italian.They make sure all of you can enjoy this massive stadium event. The commentators will be James Thorne for the English, Alex Rieger for German, Zoran Filicic for the Italian and Darius for the French guys and girls out there. Innsbruck will be the place to be for the upcoming weekend. The 6Star Billabong Air & Style is kicking off with the world’s best snowboarders showing off their tricks at the Bergisel Stadium. And along with such a big TTR event come awesome side events.
On thursday it’s time for you guys to go to the cinema and check out “Grilomentary”. It’s a documentation about Marco Grilc‘s life as a pro snowboarder. A camera followed last years Billabong Air & Style winner for one whole year. Get the insight of a pro snowboarder’s life and enjoy a nice evening at the cinema before you can watch him competing on saturday!

AIR & STYLE INNSBRUCK 2011 – CONSTRUCTION HAS BEGUN

Braving the cold temperatures, about 200 workers have begun construction for the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck 2011 at the Bergisel Stadium. The steel construction is starting to grow and already gives a glimpse of how massive this jump will be. 280 tons of steel and wood are needed to complete the jump which will be the centerpiece of the Air & Style. Once the construction is completed, 700 cubic meters of snow will be brought in from Stubai Glacier to guarantee a perfect jump with a smooth landing. The landing has been extended by 2 meters compared to the last Air & Style to give the 16 riders more room to throw down… And who knows, maybe it’ll be enough for the 1440 or triple cork?! Some of the riders competing inlcude Marko Grilc, Sebastien Toutant, Elias Elhardt, Peetu Piiroinen, Eric Willett…

Besides the construction of the jump, staff are working on the stage for the live music acts as well as the infrastructure for TV coverage, areas for VIP’s, media and judges. German artist Jan Delay and American punk rockers Pennywise will be entertaining the crowd at this TTR 6 Star event and will make sure the atmosphere will be worthy of an Air & Style.

The 6Star TTR event Air & Style is about to go in its 18th winter season and Innsbruck (AUT) will be again the place to be on the 5th of February 2011. Besides the progressive set-up and the good riding, the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck is also known for the huge music acts at the Bergisel Stadium. This year Jan Delay and Pennywise will entertain the crowd and melt the ice in the winterly Innsbruck Bergisel Stadium.

Last weekend’s Swatch TTR 6Star snowboard mega-event, the Billabong Air&Style Innsbruck 2009/II was one of the highlights of the 09/10 Season for sure. The double cork factor has changed snowboarding in a groundbreaking way and there is no end in sight in terms of variations. We made a little slideshow about the Rider’s draw on Friday and Saturday’s event night with focus on the riders for you to enjoy below.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE GERMAN AND AUSTRIAN SNOWBOARD SCENE?

With the Air & Style coming up in Austria and Elias Elhardt kicking a*** on the Tour, I started thinking about the snowboard scene in those two countries mentioned. Also, if you are capable of the German language, you may have noticed that the German snowboarding scene, especially the Olympic team, has been in the spotlight in the media lately (like the article of FAZ you see above).

Why? Well….because apparently there is no German snowboarding scene???!!! Prove me wrong, but at least this seems to be the opinion of some skiing guys that sit in some pretty powerful positions and who, apparently don’t give a darn about supporting the sport and its young athletes. Or how can a country with such a great interest in the sport and so many fans of snowboarding not have a whole lot of successful riders out there at the comps. Austria is the same I guess, especially in regards to the upcoming Olympics: neither Germany nor Austria have a halfpipe hopeful in place. I mean riders like Silvia Mittermueller and David Benedek from Germany, the Aesthetiker crew, Julia Baumgartner, Lisa Filzmoser from Austria and loads more…they are rocking it but mainly in Slopestyle! And still they are underrepresented in the mainstream especially.

Again WHY????? No good possibilities to practice (halfpipe especially), are the good riders mainly going for photoshoots or are we (as in: I am German, too, as you might have guessed by now) simply not good enough??!! I hope to explore this question a lil bit more over the season so watch out for some more blogs coming out. And those of you that are not interested in this topic – go and read another blog

ELIAS ELHARDT AT PIRATE VIDEO “JOLLY ROGER” PREMIERE

The Northern Hemisphere leg of the TTR Tour is about to begin, and one sure sign of the winter coming are the snowboard video premieres. Last season Elias Elhardt (GER) bagged some great results on the Tour and managed to squeese in the filming for a great part in the Pirates new snowboarding video. Here’s the scope from the premiere:pics: Elias with Lene (itslenejohansen.com)On Friday night the Pirates were celebrating the result of their season quest at home in Innsbruck with a huge party, concert and DJ set for the premiere projection of “Jolly Roger” their latest video. Since Pirates mastermind never submitted to digital attraction, their movie are well known for combining sick actions with artsy quality 16mm filming.This year the crew composed amongst other by riders such as Austrian artist Gigi Rüf, Jibbing limits explorer Hans Ahlund, US prodigy Drew Fuller, tricks machine like Marco Grilc, Osa or Marco Feichtner saw the addition of quite a few talented riders: Juuso Laivisto, Stefan Maurer, Tyler Chorlton, Filippo Kratter, Stephan Maurer, Markus Keller and Elias Elhardt.Elias Elhardt, the upcoming German rider, had always looked up to the Pirates as the crew to join when he would be given the chance to film. Already get to ride with Gigi, be a member part of the pirate crew was a satisfaction on its own and made his season. Although he started filming in February and had to end his season after overshooting a landing early April, Elias was happy with his season as he had learned a lot and got tricks on film, session after session. He had no expectation on how it would look at the end but felt satisfied with was has been done.When his name was not showing up on screen during the video people started guessing he would get the closing segment. Like all good fireworks, videos are most of the time built with a powerful and outstanding performance as a closing segment. On that point, Jolly Roger was no different and Elias was delighted to get the final segment and appreciate the fact his hard work and the outcome of his season was appreciated by both the pirates editing crew and the people watching and screaming after his tricks. He landed back from Argentina the very same day and had in mind to party like an animal, believe me he put so much energy and joy into it that it seemed like a whole zoo was partying.Thanks to all the Pirates for the party and movie!
