The Swatch TTR 6Star Burton European Open Snowboarding Championships 2010 went down last week in Laax, Switzerland. 08/09 TTR World Snowboard Champion Peetu Piiroinen won the slopestyle with style and consistent runs, closely followed by Norwegians Mikkel Bang and Gjermund Braaten. Scandianavian podium dominance could only be stopped by Switzerland’s Iouri Podladtchikov. Time for Burton European Open again! Its always fun to come back to Laax where I had my first ever big contest in 2000. Wow, its already 8 years ago!
I was surprised when I saw all the snow on the trees on my way up to Laax. Last year it was just green fields all over the place…. Hope this season will be whiter then last year ?
Who moved on to the next level at the BEO halfpipe?

Today some clouds moved in over the Crap Sogn Gion Halfpipe but that couldn’t stop the 20 men and 4 women that made the cut in Laax’s icy superpipe to move into Wednesday’s halfpipe event. Amongst those lucky 20 are some guys that are well known faces on the tour.

Today the skies opened up after 2 & 1/2 ft of snow dumped on Laax over the past 24 hours. The junior competitions in slopestyle and halfpipe went down on Friday and Saturday, and today we saw the qualifying runs for the up-and-comers, and the big-dogs heating things up in some training sessions.
