The snowboarding Oslo will see this week will be truly 6Star if not from a different world. The Oakley Arctic Challenge arena up at Linderudkollen 15 minutes outside the city is pretty magical. Today’s riding started with a couple of little powder runs with mini cliffs, jumps and the occasional spray to warm up. Terje was the first to drop into Claes’s 10,6m beauty of a quarter and kept building meter after meter on this first hit all day, landing some of the smoothest BS Airs quarterpipe riding has ever seen. Tuesday the 6th, TTR Crew part 1 rolled into town as one sick unit divided by 2 because we are only part 1 of 2. Davos, Switzerland, the home of the O’Neill Evolution Slopestyle and Quarterpipe TTR event, put on sunshine and great snow conditions as riders tickled their fancy with several training sessions throughout today.We arrived late and caught the tail end of slopestyle practice after some meet and greets we walk over to scope the course. Eye spyed my little eye some begging with AA , it was Antti Autti , so I thought I’d get back to my Aussie roots and say G Day and ask him how the f@ck is the setup going. Antti replied with a simple and polite “the slope course has good flow and is really fun to ride”I looked to the right and saw a whale of a woman who seemed to be stuck on a her sun recliner. So, the men’s Swatch TTR Tour finally concluded at the Burton US Open 2008 after a season full of thrills and spills, pipes and powder, and more drama than Broadway. Kevin Pearce prevailed in a nail-biting finale, beating out Peetu “3rd Place” Piiroinen, Risto Mattila, and a late surge from Shaun White to take the TTR Title along with the Swatch TTR’s behemoth 20kg trophy. Pearce fully deserved the title after proving himself to be master of all condition and terrain taking wins in multiple TTR formats: Stadium Slopestyle, Quarterpipe, and Halfpipe.
