So, the men’s Swatch TTR Tour finally concluded at the Burton US Open 2008 after a season full of thrills and spills, pipes and powder, and more drama than Broadway. Kevin Pearce prevailed in a nail-biting finale, beating out Peetu “3rd Place” Piiroinen, Risto Mattila, and a late surge from Shaun White to take the TTR Title along with the Swatch TTR’s behemoth 20kg trophy. Pearce fully deserved the title after proving himself to be master of all condition and terrain taking wins in multiple TTR formats: Stadium Slopestyle, Quarterpipe, and Halfpipe.

A world class crew of men and women pipe slayers have made their way to Park City Mountain Resort for the World Superpipe Championships taking place this weekend. Utah has been going off this season with over 500” inches of snow making conditions super fun all over the mountain. Mother nature took a break from puking snow on the Wastach Mountains and greeted the riders with sunny skies today. And needless to say, the Park City Mountain Resort crew had a prime 22-foot pipe in perfect condition for the competition this weekend.

Given the fact that the TTR office is located in the snowboarding capital of Europe (better known as Innsbruck, Austria), It seems pretty ridiculous not to take advantage of the abundance of terrain that surrounds us.
This past Saturday provided Head Honcho Drew Stevenson with the perfect opportunity to take the TTR crew up to Mayrhofen for a full day of powder glory and fresh track extravaganza. It was the first day of riding for many of us and we foreigners certainly weren’t used to massive mounds of powder in November. It was embarrassing to say the least as Drew gave slight reconsideration to why he hired us interns in the first place. A note of caution: If you ever hear the words “It’ll be fine, just follow me” on the first run of the season in the Alps, take a step back and ask yourself, “is it really worth hiking all the way back up again from the depths of the Mayrhofen valley?” Don’t say we didn’t warn you… Read the rest of this entry »
