Event History

This original concept has been set up for the first time by Intergirlactik Association, a non-profit organization, established in early 2004 - an event created by two girls who wanted to put female riders forward.

For the 1st edition, the goal was to promote female riding and put those sportswomen forward, which were too often set back, compared to men. This was 3 years ago and today, women’s riding is clearly boosting and improving, and it is now a fully integrated part of the boardsport industry.

During this first release, we were not helped at all by weather conditions but all the happenings, girls’ motivation and the ambiance were setting up what would characterize the event the next years.

In 2005, more riders joined the event. Driving sometimes 30 hours to come to Pyrenees! Good riding and a huge motivation between riders as we never saw on mixed-gender events. Riders liked to ride the park we shaped for them, special tables, butter tables and nice rails.

During those 2 firsts’ releases, boardsports’ TV programs and magazines supported the event, a nice success compared to money involved.

In 2006, due to a lack of money, the event had to be cancelled and the competition was replaced by a photoshooting attended by more than 20 women riders from all over Europe.

During those 3 years, INTERGIRLACTIK took place in Saint-Lary, Pyrenees, France ; a warm and cool atmosphere place bringing all the features which distinguished the event from others.

This year, INTERGIRLACTIK moved to the Alps, Les 7 Laux, and was associated to Ho5 Park. It was a logical progression for the event. The snowpark was good, kickers really well shaped, even if the hot weather brought smooth snow. The riders gave a great show, for sure the best since the first Intergirlactik.

INTERGIRLACTIK was one of the pioneer events to be involved in women riding promotion. And, next year, for its 5th birthday, Intergirlactik will bring all what women riders deserve today. As for riding as for happenings…
