Event History

Stylewars launched the TTR World Tour in 2005. The rider line up has been world class with names like DCP, Romain Demarchi, Hampus Mosseson, Markku Koski, Markus Keller, Chris Kroll, Jussu Laivisto, Jaakko Ruha and many more each year joining in. The event is more of a festival of snowboarding for riders more than a regular competition. Stylewars has nightly live music, a private hotel for all riders, the best private park in Australia with US park builders helping on its construction, video premieres, daily BBQs and now the first TTR through town, video judged urban street course. The competition goes over 5 potential riding days with 3 days of judged 2-hour superpark sessions to find the final Stylewars Grand master. Focus is on fun and progression with no stress.

Longevity of the Event: 5th year

Number of years on TTR Tour: Since the launch of the World Tour - 3 winters.

STYLEWARS 2005

1st Cheyne Southwell (AUS)

2nd Jakob Wilhelmson (SWE)

3rd Jacob Koia (NZE)

Cheyne Southwell was after three amazing days of serious high-level competition the most consistent performer with the best all round technical ability on both big scale kickers and rail set ups. He took home the title of Stylewars ‘Grand Master’, $5000 cash, the trophy and number 01 leg bag from Airblaster.

STYLEWARS 2004

Event number two was a different ball game. With 12-months of frothing on possibilities the ideas were more based around big terrain features and progressive riding. The resort came through and employed a crew of serious park builders for the job. They didn’t disappoint. Again the whole idea was based around a fun riding session. More of a massive gathering resembling a photo shoot, completely rider judged and rider designed. The standard went through the roof with JP Solberg, Quentin Robbins and DCP stepping up. The surprise was Ryan Tiene, a 16-year old kid who got the wild card entry. He spent the week following riders and learning new tricks. At the final vote he won almost unanimously. Weather made the event difficult but with seven days to pull it off you really can’t go wrong. Red Bull and Rip Curl were there to help out.

STYLEWARS 2003

The first year started in Style - just a group of friends riding a perfect park, a massive hip and a private rail park. No pressure, no judges and a whole lot of booze. Chaos was the main goal and it was really just a massive photo shoot. At the end of the week the riders chose who killed the event and then those poor bastards were sat down in an eat-off to judge the Stylewars ‘Grandmaster’. A mixture of cat food, bad tasting herbs, raw eggs and anything else we could find made winning more of a punishment than an honour. It was the biggest park session in Australian history. Red Bull, Nixon and Burton were there to help.
