Event History

2007 was the inaugural year for the Quiksilver Showdown Over the City. Going into year 3, the event has seen tremendous growth all around. This year the event is growing even more by stepping up to the 4Star level! This will mean more cash to give away, more top riders coming out to compete for those valuable points and a more technical course. Also new for this year, the field will only include a Mens division as the Roxy Chicken Jam is taking place on the same weekend.

The 2008 event moved locations to Lower Peak to allow for a larger spectator zone and larger area for course construction. The new location did not disappoint and will be the event location for 2009 once again. The 2008 course consisted of a large step-down jump leading into a technical dual jib obstacle. Riders were judged on a combined score of these 2 features. 2008 champion, Kevin Griffin, threw down endless tricks and combos to take home top honours while Seb Toutant stomped his double corked 1080 all day to take home Rider’s Choice. With those epic views of downtown Vancouver in the middle, Mount Baker to the East, and the gulf islands of BC to the west, the photo and video angles are endless.
