Event History

The inaugural 5Star Burton Canadian Open, the 4th event in this season’s Burton Global Open Series, originally scheduled to be taking place from December 1-7, 2008, moved to February 2-8, 2009. Due to the recent cancellation of the Session at Vail, an optimal window has opened in the North American snowboard event schedule.

The Canadian Open will be taking place at the Calgary Olympic Development Association’s (CODA) Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. CODA has been providing world-class sport facilities for Olympic development for 20 years, and Canada Olympic Park is home to the exact duplicate of the halfpipe that will be built for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Featuring slopestyle and halfpipe competitions, the Canadian Open offers riders the chance to earn a piece of the $50,000 USD prize purse and gain valuable points towards the Swatch Ticket To Ride World Tour championship titles and Burton Global Open Series championship titles. Like all Burton Global Open Series events, the Canadian Open will give local and amateur riders the chance to compete against some of the best pros in the sport and award equal prize money to male and female competitors.

With events scheduled year-round and in six countries, the Burton Global Open Series boasts the largest cumulative prize purse in snowboarding – over $900,000 – with equal prize money to men and women. The Burton Open Global Series is also part of the Swatch TTR world Snowboard Tour.

TTR Burton Canadian Open 2010 Promo

The Swatch TTR Burton Canadian Open (CANO) is coming back to WinSport Canada's Canada Olympic Park on February 1-7, 2010. Join riders from around the world in competing in world class halfpipe and slopestyle courses and for a $50,000 cash purse. The third stop in the Burton Global Open Series, the CANO will be a crucial stop for riders looking to accumulate BGOS points. This is even more important this year, because the top 3 men and women BGOS riders will be awarded major cash for their hard work (like $50k for 1st, $30k for 2nd and $20k for 3rd). The CANO is also proud to be a 5Star TTR event.just another reason to get out there and compete. All riders that compete will earn TTR points, but the top male and female rider will walk away from the CANO with 800 TTR points and a chance at the TTR Championship title.
