Guarantors for this, are perfect shaped funparks, special-starter-packages, the riders chill lounge and not at least the most cheerful ChillandDestroy event-team. Reputation hurrying ahead - the after-contest-parties... In the end it’s all about, to give the young offspring-snowboarders a platform, on which they could measure with other riders, under professionally contest terms. First of all it’s about having a chilly day in the funpark, at cool music and with the experience of a square portion of action.
There’ll be more information under www.chillanddestroy.com or check the limited CAD-Tourguide-Magazin.
Why is the series called „CHILLANDDESTROY“? „CHILL“ is synonym for the flow, the community, sociability and the communication between the attendees, the enlisted assistants and organizers, the sponsors and the spectators. Collective experience is the motto! Slopestyle after all is a special lifestyle, wrapped with emotion and touched with a sporty note... „DESTROY“ expresses the dynamic und action of the freestyle-snowboarding on a slopestyle parcours. The riders have all possibilities, to express themselves and „destroy“ the funpark with this mind figuratively .
CAD-History
At least it’s the 6th time, when the chillanddestroy tour happens in 2009! The idea to this „grassroot“-series raised in 2002, as a first small snowboard contest happened successful in Warth/Austria, with ca. 35 competitors. Quickly 3 further ski resorts were found for additional tourstopps. So in the season 2003 we started a small tour containing 3 contests. In his marketing/communication study at college, Frank K. wrote his degree dissertation about the topic: „Marketing concept with emphasis communication for the launch of a „grassroot“ snowboarding tour in Germany...“. During his work, the decision to realize the written stuff grew up and he decided to try it out. The name and the slogan for the series were found quickly: „Rock the park!“ at the „Chillanddestroy tour“! In the established year the tour started with six competitions mainly in Germany and two stops in Austria. In the second year the amount of stops increases to eight contests and the attendance rises from 160 to impressing 390. In year three the tour has been topped up to ten competitions. About 700 Riders where thankful about this. Last season the winter in Europe was a very bad. No snow, too warm. The whole winter industry suffered. Also the Chilanddestroy tour wasn’t spared. Nevertheless four competitions could be started successfully with about
320 attendances. First of all the tour became famous with the insert of innovative „new“ obstacles in the funparks (e.g. 9m A-framewallride“ bullbox“(2005), transportable 9m skidoo-rainbowbox (2006), Red Bull „Defender wallride“). Meanwhile in most of the parks obstacles with this size are standard... We will introduce some new stuff in our sixth year of the tour to improve the process of the competition. We‘d implemented the „head to head“ modus to speed up the process. Also we set in a judging-crew, consisting of some drawn riders and our established judging team, to make an objective result sure and a quick assessment of the runs. Nevertheless the 3 TTR-3star-contests will make the CAD-Tour more attractive for pro riders. If the winter 2008/09 will bring enough snow and cold, we are confidently, that the success of the chillanddestroy tour will go further...
