Event History
Each year more than 1,400 snowboarders will arrive at the annual United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) National Championships, the World’s Largest Snowboard Event. This year’s event will be held at Copper Mountain in Colorado. Both snowboarders and freeeskiers will compete against the top amateur and pro snowboarders in the country. From the beginning of the 2009-2010 seasons, the competitors will try to qualify through their local USASA Regional Series for an invitation to the grand finale of snowboarding events. The competitions kick-off on Sunday, April 4, 2010 and continue through Friday, April 9, 2010. The athletes will compete in five events including; Halfpipe, Slopestyle, Boardercross, Giant Slalom and Slalom. Riders between the ages of 5 and 70 are set to compete in 34 divisions to win more than 840 medals
This season will mark the first time the Open Class Division is a 4 Star TTR (Ticket To Ride) event (2008, 2009 3 Star). Male and Female competitors will be vying for $30,000 in cash prizes in Superpipe and Slopestyle competitions. The Superpipe will be featured at the base of Copper Mountain. Come and see some of the best national and international riders compete for the cash and a National Championship!
Since 1988, USASA has provided quality snowboard competitions to help recreational riders advance their competition skills and provide Olympic hopefuls the opportunity to reach their dreams. The USASA National Championships are representative of 35 USASA Regional Series throughout the United States. This season the USASA will organize more than 500 snowboard events hosted at more than 200 resorts nationwide. The 2009 National Championships is expected to attract more than 10,000 people to compete and watch the week of competition and daily festivities.
