Event History

Ischgl will host the second edition of the Protest World Rookie Finals, the last event of the. The “World Rookie Tour 2009 – The Conquer of the Snowboard Age”, a perfect example of the “rookie-to-pro structure”, which has been working so well also thanks to the great cooperation between WSF and TTR. This international youngster series was consolidated throughout the years and it includes slope style competitions, sport, fun, didactical activities and moments for the getting together riders of different nationalities. These rookie fests are not just competition: they feature a bunch of other activities to help rookies grow in the field of professional snowboarding, such as photo&video shootings, avalanche and rescue clinics, meeting with photographers and international team managers, parties and big prizes.

In Ischgl, the title of World Rookie Champion will be awarded to the winner. The event is reserved to the top riders from previous Rookie Fests, plus selected riders from National Snowboard Associations and the top 30 riders from the upcoming World Rookie Rank. All rookie stops are reserved to Rookies (born from 1st january 1991 to 31st december 1993) and Grom (born from 1st january 1994 and up), both boys and girls. All contest of the World Rookie Tour will generate valuable results for the Swatch TTR Ranks and for the new World Rookie Rank developed by WSF in association with the Swatch TTR.

After the first edition in Ischgl, this World Rookie Finals 2009 announce to be even better and bigger. The resort is one of the best in Alps, with an high quality snowpark and a well trained organization. As the format is well know among the youngster, everybody expect an high level challenge for the title of World Rookie Champion 2009 at this end of season Swatch TTR 4star event.

TTR Protest World Rookie Fest 2010 in Livigno

It was a perfect sunny day for The Protest World Rookie Fest finals at the Swatch Mottolino Snowpark. The riding level was high and kids coming from all around the world confirmed that the progression of snowboarding is happening. Diana Augustinova and Sebbe De Buck are the winners of the Groms and Katarzyna Rusin and Roope Tonteri the winners of the rookie’s categories. The girls, despite being less than boys impressed the judges and the boys too! Girls showed their skills on the M course of the Swatch Mottolino Snowpark, while boys where attacking the L and XL lines. The winning girls of the Groms category are: Diana Augustinova(CZE), Maria Delfina Maiocco (IT) and Noemi Valloray (IT). In the rookie’s category Katarzyna Rusin (POL) take the lead of Nora Thompson (NOR) who took second place, and Marika Enne (FIN) who finished in third place. In the boys’ field the Groms podium goes to Seppe De Buck (BEL) (run : 50-50 180out, switch backside 540, frontside 720 e backside 720), Seamus O’Connor (USA) as second place and Lucas Baume (SUI) third place. On the rookie’s side first place goes to Roope Tonteri (FIN) who secured the victory with a sick run that started off with 50-50 backflip out, cab900, backside900 and cab1080. Brage B Richenberg (NOR) got second place and Niklas Mattsson (SWE) third place.

Roope Tonteri wins Summer Rookie Fest 2010

The Black Yeti didn't hold up, he moved to Val Senales for the Summer Rookie Fest, the only TTR summer event scheduled in the Alps. The rookie champion Roope Tonteri won after a thrilling head to head final in the slopestyle contest with new Czech talent Darek "True Crail" Bergmann. The competition was initially 1Star level, but was elevated to a TTR 2Star after the display of rotations up to bs1260 in the qualifiers in the amazing Gentlemen Riders Snowpark.

The first of three World Rookie Fests this season, saw an amazing level of riding from every rider in the finals. During the two-hour jam session the top young rippers stomped their best tricks at a level that rivals their snowboarding heroes, including double corks, Cab 10s, Cab 9s and tons more. Norway returned for the third year as the best team of the event, but the champions of the competition came from all over; Kevin Bronckaers from Belgium and Sarka Pancochova from Czech Republic won the rookie category, while Dimi De Jong from Holland and Alicia Bonnaud were the best of the groms.
