Event History

Billabong is proud to announce the Billabong Ante Up, a 5 Star Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour event, taking place June 26‐30th in the Camp of Champions terrain park at Whistler Blackcomb. The event will kick off the Swatch TTR World Snowboard tour for the ’10‐’11 season in North America, and will also be a qualifying event for the 6Star Billabong Innsbruck Air and Style event taking place Feb. 5th, 2011.

Billabong Ante Up will be a Big Air event, with the jump being built by Vancouver 2010 Olympic halfpipe builder Steve Petrie of Arena Snowparks. With $50,000 USD in prize money, and a batch of 5Star TTR points on the line, Billabong Ante Up will be drawing athletes from across the globe to compete in late June up on the Blackcomb Glacier. The event will feature 50 riders, with the top 10 Swatch TTR World Tour finalists from the 2009/2010 season receiving automatic invites. The remaining spots will be filled through a registration/selection process that will take place online at www.billabong.com/anteup.

Registration is open May 3rd to May 24th, with a list of qualified riders available on the website May 31st, 2010. Additionally, there will be the Push.ca Rail Feature on course after the Big Air jump. While not part of the overall judging for TTR points, riders that choose to hit the feature will all vie for additional awards. ‘Having this event in the summer is going to be killer. Everyone loves summer riding, and especially in a place like Whistler. To partner with the Swatch TTR World Tour and all our sponsors was an easy decision, and we’re stoked to be getting the world’s best riders together for this great event’ says Risto Scott, Marketing Director at Billabong Canada.

Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour 2010/11 Season Highlights

Peetu Piiroinen (FIN) and Jamie Anderson (USA) were officially crowned the 2010/11 Swatch TTR World Tour Champions at the 29th annual 6Star Burton US Open today. After their amazing performances throughout this 10-month long season, they were each rewarded with the TTR Champion trophies and $50,000 USD along with the glory of both becoming multiple TTR World Tour title-holders. Peetu and Jamie are no strangers to the TTR podium. This is Jamie's second TTR World Tour title and Peetu has made history once again earning a remarkable third consecutive TTR title. The Burton US Open is the last major stop of the 2010/11 TTR World Tour season and played host to the official Swatch TTR World Tour awards ceremony at the close of the event. This season, Peetu competed on three different continents and did not discriminate when choosing what types of events to attend. Peetu does it all and does it all well. He began this season in Asia at the 6Star Shaun White Oakley Air & Style in Beijing, China where he placed fifth in the big air competition. From Asia, he moved on to Europe where he took fourth place at the 6Star O'Neill Evolution halfpipe in Davos, Switzerland. Peetu found himself back on the podium when he took down the 6Star Burton European Open halfpipe title and placed second in slopestyle. And, at the 6Star Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck, Austria, Peetu took another second place. Just one week later, he won the 6Star Nike 6.0 Air & Style in Munich, Germany, which was the result that ended up clinching his TTR World Tour title for the 2010/11 season.Jamie dominated in the 2010/11 season claiming victories on slopestyle courses all over the globe, starting off with the 5Star New Zealand Open and the 6Star O'Neill Evolution slopestyle competitions. She went on to win the 6Star Burton European Open and the Oakley Arctic Challenge slopestyle events, which set her high above the rest of her competitors. Her second TTR World Tour title was confirmed at the Burton US Open where she took second place in slopestyle.

TTR BIllabong Ante Up 2010 Finals - Seb Toots

The Billabong Ante Up competition, the first 5Star event of the 2010/11 Swatch TTR World Tour season, went off today with an excellent showing from a diverse field of riders. The summertime event was held up at 7,000-feet in the Camp of Champions park on the Blackcomb glacier and featured a massive 75-foot gap jump. The event featured 40 riders going for a piece of the $50,000 prize purse and 850 TTR ranking points. It was an all-Canadian podium and Sebastien Toutant (CAN) took the top spot making him $20,000 richer. Toutant also secured an automatic invite to the Billabong Air & Style Innsbruck. All the riders were pulling off some impressive tricks all day and it came down to a double cork 1260 race for the podium with all three riders doing different variations of the trick. Toutant won the first place podium spot with a flawless Cab 1260 double cork and had this to say about his win, "Winning the first 5Star TTR big air contest was just amazing, it was an epic final and it's sick because I'll be leading in the TTR ranking going down to New Zealand in August."Coming in second place behind Toutant and winning $15,000 was Matts Kulisek (CAN) who landed a backside 1260 double cork and Mark McMorris (CAN) took third place earning $10,000 for his frontside 1260 double cork. Other notable mentions include Gjermund Braaten (NOR) who also stomped a backside 1260 double cork to take fourth place and Chas Guldemond (USA) who landed a frontside 1260 for fifth place.
