Event History

It’s been already nearly 5 years since the first edition of the River Jump took place in 2006. At the end of that first edition we looked at each other in the eyes and realized this was a very special event: so original, funny and challenging to even gain the title, among riders, of best Italian contest of the year. About 4.000 people assisted to the show! Winners of the first edition are: 1. Mario Kappelli 2. Wyatt Caldwell 3. Matias Radaelli. The willingness to improve year by year the quality of the event allowed us to gain 4 TTR stars in 2007 making one step forward in the TTR international circuit. The objective in fact has always been to improve the contest’s format in order to create an unconventional event and to give riders the chance to freely express their abilities winning also a little money! Thanks to our beliefs the show was guaranteed. Some riders were invited, others had to pass through qualifications at the Mottolino snowpark. All athletes though had the possibility to access the super night final of the River Jump. Winners of the second edition are: 1. Yale Cousino 2. Ville Uotila 3. Sami Saarenpaa In 2008 we had to take a year off since due to the financial crisis it was basically impossible to find any sponsor willing to invest. In 2009 the third River Jump edition took place, bringing it back in the contests’ Olympus. 20 among the best national and international riders were called to show off their abilities in an emotional contest at the Mottilino snowpark. Those who passed the qualifiers could access the final competition: the jump of the Spoel river at night. The moneyprize was 20.000€. Winners of the third edition are: 1. Chris Soerman 2. Mark Sollors 3. Christian Haller In 2010 the River Jump made another step forward: it became the only 5 stars TTR event in Europe for both competitions scheduled, the Brux Slopestyle and the Burn River Jump. The fourth edition had an exceptional title sponsor: Burn, the Coca Cola energy drink. With such a great title sponsor, we had the possibility to improve even more the quality of the event. Hence the Burn River Jump confirmed once again its reputation as unique contest able to gain great success at international level and to boost the Italian snowboard scene. The best riders from all over the world arrived in Livigno and remained impressed by the beauty of the resort and by the structures’ quality. From the very beginning of the contest they proved their amazing abilities and proved the level of riding being impressive! The money prize was 50.000 $! The 2010 podium is: 1. Yale Cousino 2. Gjermund Braaten 3. Mark McMorris 4. Eric Willett. Yale Cousino, unchallenged winner of the fifth River Jump edition, also won the special prize Best Jibber by Burn, a special prize dedicated to the jibbing arena.

Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour 2010/11 Season Highlights

Peetu Piiroinen (FIN) and Jamie Anderson (USA) were officially crowned the 2010/11 Swatch TTR World Tour Champions at the 29th annual 6Star Burton US Open today. After their amazing performances throughout this 10-month long season, they were each rewarded with the TTR Champion trophies and $50,000 USD along with the glory of both becoming multiple TTR World Tour title-holders. Peetu and Jamie are no strangers to the TTR podium. This is Jamie's second TTR World Tour title and Peetu has made history once again earning a remarkable third consecutive TTR title. The Burton US Open is the last major stop of the 2010/11 TTR World Tour season and played host to the official Swatch TTR World Tour awards ceremony at the close of the event. This season, Peetu competed on three different continents and did not discriminate when choosing what types of events to attend. Peetu does it all and does it all well. He began this season in Asia at the 6Star Shaun White Oakley Air & Style in Beijing, China where he placed fifth in the big air competition. From Asia, he moved on to Europe where he took fourth place at the 6Star O'Neill Evolution halfpipe in Davos, Switzerland. Peetu found himself back on the podium when he took down the 6Star Burton European Open halfpipe title and placed second in slopestyle. And, at the 6Star Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck, Austria, Peetu took another second place. Just one week later, he won the 6Star Nike 6.0 Air & Style in Munich, Germany, which was the result that ended up clinching his TTR World Tour title for the 2010/11 season.Jamie dominated in the 2010/11 season claiming victories on slopestyle courses all over the globe, starting off with the 5Star New Zealand Open and the 6Star O'Neill Evolution slopestyle competitions. She went on to win the 6Star Burton European Open and the Oakley Arctic Challenge slopestyle events, which set her high above the rest of her competitors. Her second TTR World Tour title was confirmed at the Burton US Open where she took second place in slopestyle.

TTR Burn River Jump 2011 - Big Air Finals

Living up to its reputation, the 5Star Burn River Jump gathered a crowd of 2000 screaming fans to support the international line up of riders jumping over the Spoel river at the night time "Grand Finale" of the event in Livigno, Italy. Over a few days, during 22nd February 25th of February, 2011 this elite Italian snowboard competition ran two formats; slopestyle and big air. Kicking off with the Burn slopestyle contest in the Swatch Mottolino Snowpark, the spectators saw Norwegian Ulrik Badertscher take top honours. Ten of the best scoring riders from the slopestyle, received invites to compete in the night-time big air competition along with the invited riders and wildcards. Due to high winds that came in during the first qualification round the organizers made the decision to close the big air, and re-run the qualifications using only the " burn river jump" and the end jib section. As the course changed significantly the new format saw a 4Star TTR status. 16 riders battled it out for a place in the four man super final. The nail biting two-run knock out super final saw Norwegian duo Alexander Ostreng and Ulrik Badertscher, who both had made their way all the way from the qualifying rounds, go head to head, while Jamie Nicholls and Eric Willet battled each other. In the end it was Alexander and Eric who made it through to the final round. Aleksander nailed his first run that included a huge backside 900 over the river and a switch front lipslide 270 out in the jib section, knocking out Eric's top run consisting of a switch backside 900 and stylish boardslide. Ulrik took third place leaving rail extraordinaire Jamie in fourth. Jamie bagged the additional "Burn Jib Master" award for his rail trickery. With the two podium placements Ulrik Badertscher leaped up in the Swatch TTR ranking and now sits in World No. 14, while Jamie Nicholls jumped into World No. 28.
