Jamie Anderson Takes Second TTR World Snowboard Tour Title

Peetu Piiroinen Is Three Time TTR World Snowboard Champion

http://www.ttrworldtour.com - Last season, Peetu Piiroinen was the first ever snowboarder to win two TTR World Tour titles and has returned again this season to take an unprecedented third consecutive TTR title, a feat no other snowboarder has come close to touching. At the age of 23, Peetu has had an amazing run in competitive snowboarding with over 25 career podiums. Peetu started competing back in 1997 at the ripe age of 9-years old and has been steadily progressing his riding since. He made his first big break onto the scene back in 2006 when he took his first major win at the Burton European Open, where he won the slopestyle title. Peetu Piiroinen (FIN) and Jamie Anderson (USA) were officially crowned the 2010/11 Swatch TTR World Tour Champions at the 29th annual 6Star Burton US Open today. After their amazing performances throughout this 10-month long season, they were each rewarded with the TTR Champion trophies and $50,000 USD along with the glory of both becoming multiple TTR World Tour title-holders. Peetu and Jamie are no strangers to the TTR podium. This is Jamie's second TTR World Tour title and Peetu has made history once again earning a remarkable third consecutive TTR title. The Burton US Open is the last major stop of the 2010/11 TTR World Tour season and played host to the official Swatch TTR World Tour awards ceremony at the close of the event.This season, Peetu competed on three different continents and did not discriminate when choosing what types of events to attend. TTR O'Neill Evolution 2011 - Womens Slopestyle Finals

Jamie Anderson (USA) rose above the pack to take the 6Star TTR O'Neill Evolution Women's Slopestyle title with a backside 540 mute to a switch frontside boardslide-to-backside boardslide. Now sitting in the World No. 3 position, Jamie was super excited and had this to say about the day, "Today the event was really fun. The kicker was perfect and the weather was great. The progression for women's riding was really high, which was awesome. After this I'm going to head to the 6Star Burton European Open and then I want to go to all the big TTR events." Sarka Pancochova was riding well to take second place and reigning TTR Champion, Enni Rukajarvi, was able to grab third place.

"It's also a really good feeling to be on top with two of my best buddies."Last year's winner Iouri Podladtchikov had been leading after his second run of a Cab 720, Frontside Crippler, Backside Double McTwist 1260 and a Frontside 1080 Tail. "I was thinking that I could have made it two wins in two years after landing my trick. But it feels great to have Christian in front of me. Of course it hurts a bit. But it's Christian. If it was someone else I would probably be more pissed right now."The surprise of the day came from the 16 year old Swiss rider Jan Scherrer who finished third after leading at the end of the first heat. "I was so surprised," said Jan who goes to school here in Davos. "But it's great. TTR O'Neill Evolution 2011 Teaser

Both the men's and women's riders lists feature some heavy hitters and will bring some interesting moves in the TTR World Tour Ranking after the 6star O'Neill Evolution. Belgian rider, Seppe Smits, has the opportunity to take over the tour lead and fellow young guns, Sebastien Toutant (CAN), Stale Sandbech (NOR) and Roope Tonteri (FIN) will all be competing for spots in the TTR Top 5. But, all these riders will need to deal with major threats, Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) and Peetu Piiroinen (FIN), who will also be looking to advance their positions in the Tour Rankings. Podladtchikov has had his eyes on the top spot since the start of the season, "It's kind of my plan to challenge Peetu one more time and hopefully not let him win that early. Peetu, watch out!" he said, back at the 5Star Burton New Zealand Open, bringing healthy competitive fire to the 2010/11 season.In the women's competition, young and motivated slopestyle extraordinaire, Enni Rukajärvi (FIN), will be defending her TTR tour lead against Swiss ripper Sina Candrian (SUI), who is a strong rider in both halfpipe and slopestyle. Kelly Clark (USA), who is a known halfpipe slayer, could move into the TTR Top 5 with a good result at the Evolution, but she will have to ride it out with Ursina Haller, another Swiss rider to watch out for in the halfpipe.

TTR O'Neill Evolution Davos 2011 - Trailer

From January 2nd until the 8th expect to be mesmerised as some of the best snowboarding talent in the world pushes the limits and take to the skies from the halfpipe and slopestyle sitting at the base of the Jakobshorn, in Davos, Switzerland.The 6Star Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour event is once again pushing new boundaries. The event for 2011 now holds a 6Star TTR rating for both the women's Slopestyle as well as the Halfpipe. And this year also sees the 6Star rating for men extended to the 2-hit Slopestyle course for the first time.The Halfpipe finals will take place on Friday January 7th as 10 riders hit the 6 metre high, 130 metre long and 20 metre wide pipe which sits impressively at the base of the Jakobshorn.Saturday sees a day of Slopestyle finals that will run into a floodlit night finale as the riders take to the skies under the gasps of the crowds gathered at the foot of the course."We always want to bring something new and exciting to this event," said O'Neill Global Event Director, Bernhard Ritzer. "It's called Evolution after all," he said. "This year we're changing the Slopestyle radically following feedback from the riders for less but more challenging features, and a mix of day and night riding will bring variation and challenges for the riders."In addition to the spectacular show ahead, there are also new developments behind the scenes. A new judging system -- the Snowboard Live Scoring System (SLS) -- will be introduced allowing everyone to see how judges give points by scoring each trick individually in a rider's run and adding a flow score for the overall impression of the run.With the top ten Swatch TTR World Tour men invited and the top eight women, this is bound to be a week of non-stop action. So far confirmed for O'Neill Evolution 2011 are Seb Toots, Janne Korpi, Gian Simmen, Kjersti Buaas, Sharka Pancchova, Chanelle Sladics, Kelly Clark and Nadja Purtschert with more names to follow in the coming weeks.
