TTR Battery Catfight 2011 - Slopestyle

Top Level Slopestyle Battle Wowed the CrowdsThe slopestyle contest wrapped up the Battery Catfight with a bang and the level of riding was incredibly high. Urška Pribošič stomped a clean run consisting of lofty stylish airs, clean grabs and rock solid landings to claim the victory. Her run boasted a frontside 180 on to switch backside 180 out on the rail, frontside 720 mute grab, backside 360 tail grab, frontside 360 tail and a tailtap on the last jib feature. "It was the most fun event of the season, with lots of good riders and the course was super fun, except we had a bit of wind. I've never been this far up North in Finland, which has been exciting and I just hope I get to see the Northern lights now." Urska moved up into World No. 28, and when asked about her plans for the next season she says, "I plan to do a lot more contests on the TTR tour next year." In second place was Isabel Derungs who impressed the crowds and judge's with her backside rodeos and in third was Tini Gruber, who both along with Urska received wild card to the 4Star Billabong Flaunt-It finals in California, USA in a few weeks time. Also making some big moves up in the TTR Ranking after the Battery Catfight is up and coming Finnish rider Merika Enne, who now sits in World No. 29.

TTR Battery Catfight 2011 - Rail Jam

Enni Rukajärvi Shows Her killer Rail Riding SkillsThe fun rail jam format took place at the heart of the Levi village on Thursday, March 25th, with a big cheering crowd watching the forty girls hitting the three-rail set up. Enni Rukajärvi, who started her career at this event a few years back took the top honour showing that she has some killer rail combos in addition to her kicker slaying abilities. Enni has become known as one of Finland's best female snowboarders for her solid performances at top slopestyle events around the globe and her TTR Tour Champion Title 2009/10. Her best tricks in the final included a backside boardslide to fakie on the handrail and a frontside 270 to frontside boardslide 270 out, as well as a switch tailslide 270 out on the box. After the prize giving she said, "I'm so happy to be riding back home in Finland. The level has gone up in the last few years and the girls are doing more versatile tricks." Enni remains in the World No. 6 place. In second place was Isabel Derungs who landed one of the judge's and crowd favourite tricks with a 270 on and 270 off the C-rail, and in the third place was Christina (Tini) Gruber who is one of Austria's most promising up and coming riders.

TTR Battery Catfight 2011 - Wrap Up

The slopestyle format was successfully wrapped up at the 4Star Battery Catfight this Saturday, the 26th of March, 2011. The small village of Levi in the north of Lapland, Finland played host to this female only event, which featured a $10 000 USD prize purse and each format offered a maximum of 500 Swatch TTR Ranking points. The winner of the halfpipe format was Swiss shredder Elena Könz now sitting in World No 23, and former TTR Tour champion, Finland's Enni Rukajärvi, took the rail jam victory, while Urška Pribošič from Slovenia dominated the Slopestyle course and took the top spot, moving her into World No.28. Isabel Derungs from Switzerland was the most versatile rider of the event as she took second place in each of the three formats, which moved her up significantly in the TTR World Tour Ranking to World No.14.The only 4Star Women's Halfpipe competition on the TTR CalendarThe newly upgraded, relocated and renamed 4Star Battery Catfight featured a 14-foot halfpipe competition, which saw a fierce battle in the arctic cold conditions. The cold did not deter the girls and the warm atmosphere kept the girls motivated. Twenty-five ladies dropped in and in the end Elena Könz flew the highest taking the victory and leaving Isabel Derungs (SUI) in second place and Finland's Saana Pehkonen in third. At the end of the Battery Catfight weekend Elena moved up in the ranking to the World No.23 position. Her winning run included a huge lean air, backside air, fronside 360 melon, a switch nosegrab, frontside 540 and a backside 360. She was stoked after her win, and said, "I'm so happy, it was a really fun session and the pipe was good. I was surprised to see how many girls were here, and everyone was so motivated and friendly." Elena also received a wild card to compete at the 6Star Burton European Open halfpipe next year.
