Event History

20 Snowboard Rookie Teams from all over the world will land tomorrow in Ischgl, Austria, for the 4Star 2012 Protest World Rookie Finals, the most important youth snowboard event of the season where the yearly WSF World Rookie Champions titles will be awarded. England, France, Canada, Rumania, Italy, Czech Republic, Japan, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Polland, USA, Germany, The Nederland, Slovenia, Austria, Russia, Australia and Andorra are the national team confirmed for the 2012 Protest World Rookie Finals: almost 100 rising stars from all over the world will challenge in Ischgl for a 30.000€ prize money value. Among the many prizes there will there will be invitations to Onboard Europe and Cooler photoshootings to offer the winners a chance to get their first international picture published.

TTR Protest World Rookie Finals 2012 - Full Event Report

Sven Thorgren and Celia Petrig were crowned 2012 WSF World Rookie Champions!Sven Thorgren (SWE) and Celia Petrig (SUI) won the 2012 Protest World Rookie Finals in Ischgl, Austria, and were crowned WSF 2012 World Rookie Champions with a special prize giving ceremony including live music and special guests. It was the largest edition ever of the World Rookie Finals with more than 90 riders and 20 national team. Despite of bad weather conditions it was possible to complete the event in Ischgl and to crown the WSF 2012 World Rookie Champions. Several program changes took place to face the heavy snowfalls and low visibility conditions but at the end all the riders were able to hit 2 runs during the Rail Session on Friday, and one run in the slopestyle on Saturday. Sven Thorgren from Sweden was the best male, while Celia Petrig the best girl: they won the WSF 2012 World Rookie Champions title and received amazing prizes which will support their snowboard careers. Among the groms, the norwegian ripper Fridtjof Tischendorf was the male winner for the second time in a row, while swiss Romana Petrig was the best girl. The grom champions got "Golden Tickets" to enter every World Rookie Tour event in 2013 for free. "I feel so well, coudn't be more happy!" said the new WSF World Rookie Champion Sven Thorgren after the prize giving. "I want to say thank you to all the staff that organize this event, it was great to ride the Rookie Fests and it helped me a lot for my snowboard career. So, all you kids out there, keep riding the rookie fest events because they are awesome and they will help you in your career."

TTR Protest World Rookie Finals 2011 - Ischgl

The 4Star Protest World Rookie Finals are finally concluded and Emil Andre Ulsletten from Norway and Katarzyina Rusin from Polland conquered the World Rookie Champions titles 2011 in Ischgl, Austria. Among the many prizes awarded, there was also an additional ticket to Oslo 2012 World Snowboard Championships for the male rookie champion.In a slopestyle consisting of 4 table tops and a big jib area, all the riders showcased an high level of snowboarding for the end of season Protest World Rookie Finals 2011. Also, in the tradition of the World Rookie Tour, the event was not only a competition but included many other activities in the 5 days program: avalanche clinics by Pieps, art workshops with "special" people by We.Art, shredding with snowboard legends from USA (Mike Ranquet, Terry Kidwell and Bob Klein), video premiere about the History of Snowboarding, and a presentation of Oslo 2012 World Snowboard Championships and W.A.S (We Are Snowboarding) by Henning Anderson, CEO of The Arctic Challenge.The male winner of the event and new WSF World Rookie Champion 2011 is the norwegian rising star Emil Andre Ulsletten, who impressed the jury with frontside 1080, cab 900 and tons of style on the rails. Sven Thorgren from Sweden and Haaverd Bergheim from Norway completed the male rookie podium: all of them won a freeride trip to Chile with international pros to join the South America Rookie Fest 2011 in Valle Nevado.In the girls rookie category, Katarzyna Rusin from Polland conquered her second World Rookie Champion title and moved in the position 20 of the TTR World Pro Rank. TTR World Rookie Tour special 2010

World Rookie Tour is a global series of youth snowboard events all over the world, part of the Swatch TTR and from 1 to 4star level. In 2010, more than 500 kids from 20 nations joined the tour in order to challenge for the title of World Rookie Champion and won their chance to became professional snowboarder. Infact, instead of prize money, the rookie tour events offer tickets to world class events, photo shootings with international media, video sessions with film production company and freeride trip in Chile. 2010 season included international events in Italy, Serbia, Andorra, Czech Republic, Austria, Australia and Chile. The kick off event is the Protest World Rookie Fest in Livigno, Italy: it is the most progressive youth snowboard event in the history of our sport which attract 100 of the most talented under 18 years old riders from 20 nations. The winner in Livigno 2010 was Roope Tonteri: he got a ticket for the legendary Oakley Artic Challenge in Oslo, Norway, the event founded by Terje Haakonsen, the god father of modern snowboard. Roope went to the TAC and with solid runs he ended at 7th place!After Livigno the Rookie Tour moved to Andorra, Serbia, Czech Republic and arrived to the end of season big finals: the 4Star Protest World Rookie Finals 2011 in Ischgl, Austria. Only per-selected riders from previous stops and from World Snowboard Federation national associations, can compete in the rookie finals and challenge for the World Rookie Champion title and for amazing prizes: trip to Chile, a ticket to the Air&Style, a filming session with Pirate Movie Production and photoshootings with Onboard Europe.

The Finnish Ripper Roope Tonteri wins the Protest World Rookie Finals 2010 in Ischgl, Austria, and conquers his second World Rookie Champion Title. Among his Tricks a massive Double bs Rodeo on the final Hip. Among his prizes a freeride trip to Chile, an invitation to the Red Bull Evolution Camp in New Zealand, a film shooting with the Pirate Movie Production and a Ticket to the Air&Style Rookie Challenge 2010.Second rookie of the Event is austrian Schattschneider Clemens, followed by Sven Thorgren from Sweden. The winner of the Rookie girl category is pollish Rusin Katarzyna, followed by Gyarmati Anna from Hungary on the second position, and Silja Suitiala from Finalnd on the third.Among the Groms, born after 1995, Tim Kevin Ravnyak from Slovenia resulted the best boy, and Augustinova Diana from Czech Republic the best girl. TTR Protest Pyrenees Rookie Fest 2011

Spring time showed up on a magic Saturday in Vallnord, Andorra, for the 3Star Swatch TTR Slopestyle Protest Pyrenees Rookie Fest, the second international stop of the World Rookie Tour 2011.The rookies started to train early in the morning on 3 jumps and the final rail set to find their perfect run.Timmy Saisa from Sweden showed solid style during the qualification day. Lewis Courtier-Jones (GBR) challenged him for the first position until the end but Timmy Saisa wasn't about to give up the top spot. He got the maximum score in his third run which included a cab5, bs7, fs5, 50-50 180 out. Timmy won an all-inclusive invitation to the Protest World Rookie Finals, a ticket to the Ride Shake Down in Garmisch, a ticket to the Protest Manifest and a ticket to the next World Rookie Tour stop in Czech Republic. Cristian Botella (ESP) took the third position on the rookie category while "local hero" Manex Azula got injured during practice. At 13 years old, french Chloe Sillieres showed high level riding, landing smooth bs3, fs3 and nice frontside5's. She was super stoked to win an invitation for the Protest World Rookie Finals.The World Rookie Tour is now moving to East Europe for the third edition of the East Rookie Fest in Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic which is going down March 18th till the 20th. With 5 riders on the podium, Norway conquered the title of best team at the Protest World Rookie Fest 2011, hosted in Livigno, Italy, at the Mottolino Snowpark. Norwegian rising star Emil Andre Ulsletten resulted the best rider of the event and won, among the many prizes, his ticket to ride for the Oakley Arctic Challange in Oslo. Anna Gyrmati from Hungary won the girl category and got a ticket to the Rip Curl Sista Sessions in Austria.As in the past edition, the Protest World Rookie Fest resulted a great platform for future stars of snowboarding, and it bring together in Livigno almost 100 selected riders from 15 nations. With a world class snowpark and the best under 18 years old riders from all over, the Protest World Rookie Fest in Livigno resulted again as the most awaited snowboard youth event of the season and bring in Livigno medias, team managers and snowboard fans from all Europe. On the male rookie podium other 2 norwegians: Peder Midttomme and Havard Bergheim. TTR Mall Sport South America Rookie Fest 2010

The Swedish ripper Sven Thorgren won the first edition of the Mall Sport South America Rookie Fest, a Swatch TTR 2Star Slopestyle. With riders from 5 nations, the event was hosted in Valle Nevado, Chile and it assigned to the best Chilean riders tickets to the Protest World Rookie Fest 2011 in Livigno, Italy, and to the Protest World Rookie Finals 2011 in Ischgl, Austria.The rookie's slopestyle consisted of two obstacles with rail and boxes, one jump and one transfer kicker. For the grom category, from 6 to 14 years old, an additional line with smaller obstacles was realized. Among the male rookies Sven Thorgren from Sweden resulted the best, followed by Italian rising star Marco Grigis and local hero Andre Escobar who got a ticket for the Protest World Rookie Finals in Ischgl, Austria. The best male grom was Santiago Gonzales (CHI) while among the girls Roberta Irarrazaual (CHI) who won and invitation to Protest World Rookie Fest in Livigno, Italy.The event was previously postponed for bad weather conditions from the 14 to 21 august. During that week, the EU Rookie Squad enjoyed a week of trips and shootings around Chile with skate and artificial wave surf sessions, visits of cultural and traditional locations and some slashy backcountry riding. Italian freesurfer Eugenio Barcelloni, who is spending 2010 in Chile, invited the crew to a secret Big Wave surf session in Pichicuy were living legends Ramon Navarro and Greg Long conquer a "never surfed before" 10 meters wave.
