Relentless BIGAIR Stuttgart presented by Quiksilver returns – now upgraded to a 5Star TTR snowboard competition.

After the storming success of its January 2011 debut, Germany’s Relentless BIGAIR Stuttgart returns for its second edition in association with Quiksilver, bigger and better than before. Taking place 16-17 December 2011, it’s now been upgraded from a 4 to 5Star TTR event, elevating it to the elite of snowboard competitions worldwide.

Relentless BIGAIR Stuttgart brings world-class snowboarding to the heart of Stuttgart, in the impressive Neckarpark situated between Cannstatter Wasen and the Mercedes-Benz Arena. 250 tons of metal will be used to construct the huge 130-metre long, 36-metre high snow-filled run.The contest is held on a big-air jump and a staircase obstacle with rails and slidebars, guaranteeing gripping action throughout.

The prizes on offer are huge this year. Aside from the $50,000 purse, the world’s best riders will compete for 850 TTR points and for a place at the 2012 World Championships in Oslo in February.

On January 4/5, 2011 the state capital was initially going to be in the focus of the international snowboard-scene: 'Relentless BIGAIR Stuttgart' did not only invite the world's best riders to the Neckar -- the Swabian metropolis hosted one of Germany's biggest Snowboard-Contest. The freestyle event is part of the prestigious TTR World Snowboard Tour. Established by snowboarders, the world's best riders are now competing in the series. Relentless BIGAIR Stuttgart is going to take place directly in the city -- in the Neckarpark between Cannstatter Wasen and the Mercedes-Benz-Arena on parking area P9.Centrepiece and sensational eyecatcher of the two-day event is going to be the 36 metre high ramp, from which the boarders will show hazardous tricks before landing in the sweet spot. To satisfy the international contest criteria 250 tons of steel are necessary. After the landing a staircaseis waiting for the riders and they can show their skills sliding down the combination of stairs and rails as artistic as possible. A jury is judging the jumps and tricks altogether. The rider leading after both judgements awaits not only an enormous prize money of US$ 50,000, but also a bunch of world ranking points.The best known companies and retailers in the snowboard business will get the opportunity to make an appearance on January 4/5 in Stuttgart as well. On both days the fair 'Brandstation' will take place and firms will present trends and innovations in the scene.
