Best Of TTR Halfpipe Tour Champions 11/12 - Iouri Podladtchikov and Kelly Clark

The 2011/2012 TTR World Tour came to a close at the 6Star Burton US Open with men's and women's halfpipe finals. After a gripping season full of countless highlights, Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) and Kelly Clark (USA) clinched the TTR Halfpipe World Tour Champion titles. Kelly Clark took a podium spot once again to receive the TTR World Tour Champion trophy for her clear domination in the halfpipe over the course of the season. Although Kelly didn't manage to come in first in her home state after being undefeated in 16 consecutive contests, she undeniably sets the standard for women's halfpipe snowboarding. It was Elena Hight (USA), finishing the season in World No. 4 in the TTR Halfpipe Rankings, who broke Kelly's string of wins with less than a one point difference today. Kelly had this to say about her second TTR title win, "I'm super happy to have won this, it has been a competition at every event and the other girls have really pushed me to level where I am right now."Iouri Podladtchikov also had an amazing season standing atop podiums at every TTR competition he entered. Reaching back to the Burton New Zealand Open where Iouri took third place, he continued his season of success with a first place finish at the World Snowboarding Championships in Oslo, Norway and won again at the Burton European Open in Laax, Switzerland. He capped off his season nicely with the coveted win here at the US Open.

TTR Burton European Open 2012 - Slopestyle Final

LAAX/SUI (March 1, 2012) -- Another bluebird day, spring temperatures and an epic Slopestyle course laid the groundwork for one of the Burton European Open's most memorable slopestyle competitions earlier today. Jamie Anderson (USA) successfully defended her title and won the BEO Slopestyle for the second year in a row, while Aleksander Ostreng (NOR) won his first international title today. Both winners took home $15,000 and a world-class title to add to their snowboarding resumes. Jamie's winning run included a backside tailslide on the rail, a frontside 360 to backside 180 on the step-up/step-down combo, a Cab 720 nose grab and switch backside 540 Indy grab on the kickers, finishing off with a backside lipslide to frontside 360 melon. Enni Rukajärvi (FIN) managed to get close to Jamie with a top score of 81.80, ending up in second place followed by a new face on the BEO podium, Swiss rider Isabel Derungs, who took third. Jamie had this to say about her win, "It was the best riding I have ever seen from the girls. I love the new course...it's great for creative runs. I'm so happy that I won because my mom stayed up all night to watch the finals."In the men's final it was Norway's Aleksander Ostreng who claimed the top spot with an incredible third run, including a switch frontside 180 on to 360 out on the rail, a super stylish backside rodeo to Cab rodeo 540 on the step-up/step-down combo, followed by a frontside 1080 nosebone and a huge and super clean backside 1260 melon grab, ending with a Cab 180 on to 270 out to tailblunt 270 out on the MINI Creative Use of Space feature. Alek was overwhelmed and said, "I haven't realized that I won yet. It's a super good feeling being on the podium for the first time in a 6 Star TTR event. I landed everything in the second run, so I tried to step it up in the third, and itworked out!" The Finnish squad followed with last year's BEO winner Roope Tonteri taking second place and Peetu Piiroinen taking third place. Peetu had a theory why the podium was in Northern Europe's hands, "I like the dominance of the Scandinavian and Finnish riders...maybe it's because of the food." Jamie Anderson and Emil Ulsletten (NOR) both took the MINI Creative Use of Space (CUOS) Award and received $5,000 each. With his win today, Aleksander Ostreng moved from 24th place to the top spot of the Slopestyle Burton Global Open Series Ranking, Roope Tonteri is now in second and Sebastien Toutant is in third. On the women's side, Jamie Anderson is of course still leading the BGOS Slopestyle Ranking, with Sina Candrian now close behind her in second and Kjersti Buaas in third. Three-time TTR World Tour winner Peetu Piiroinen made it into the top five of the TTR Overall Ranking with his podium position in Slopestyle today. Stale Sandbech is still leading the Overall rankings. In the Slopestyle rankings, it is still a close race towards the TTR tour final, with many guys hunting for that number one spot. Jamie Anderson has pretty much cemented her first-place position in the Slopestyle ranking, with Kjersti Ostgaard-Buaas now moving up to second place. Sina Candrian made it into the top three today as well. Cilka Sadar is currently leading the Women's Overall Ranking, with Kjersti and Jamie following close in second and third position. TTR Burton European Open 2011 Halfpipe Highlights

The final day of the 12th annual Burton European Open went off today with Peetu Piiroinen (FIN) and Kelly Clark (USA) taking home the halfpipe titles, earning themselves 1000 Swatch TTR Ranking points, a piece of the $125,000 USD prize purse and automatic qualification into the 2012 World Snowboarding Championships taking place next February in Oslo, Norway. Peetu advanced in the TTR Tour Ranking to World No. 3 with his win today strengthening his position in the TTR Top 10, while Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI), who today placed third, moved into the tour lead. On the women's side Kelly Clark moved into World No. 11, putting some pressure on the women in the Top 10.Kelly Clark Brings a Top Performance Despite Morning FogThe day kicked off with a small delay due to some clouds hanging over the pipe forcing the organizers to change the format. All women went from semi-finals straight into a two-run final of 21 riders. Kelly Clark (USA), once again, set the bar for the rest of the field and put down her best run on her first drop throwing down a frontside 900, backside 540, frontside 720 and finished with a Cab 720. With her first place finish here, combined with her victory last weekend at the 6Star O'Neill Evolution, Kelly has made her presence known in the Swatch TTR World Ranking and will be a competitor to watch out for throughout the rest of the season. Kelly had this to say about the day, "I love this pipe and I come here every year. It's one of my favorite events to come to because the pipe is so much fun to ride," and she continued to talk about her win saying, "It's great winning another 6Star event, I'm looking forward to the Burton Canadian Open and the Burton US Open and to see if I can't get a few more good results."Behind Kelly was young Spanish rider, Queralt Castellet, who has been shaking things up in the women's halfpipe scene and broke into the TTR Top 50 with her second place finish today, as did the Japanese rider, Yuki Furihata, who placed third.History Repeats Itself in the Men's ...

TTR Is Settling The Score At Burton NZ Open

Following the successful launch of the Snowboarding Live Scoring System™ at The Oakley Arctic Challenge slopestyle last winter, major events on the Swatch TTR World Tour have agreed to work together to expand and implement the system for all halfpipe, slopestyle and big air competitions for the upcoming 2010/11 season.  The Live Scoring System is planned to be introduced across all 6Star TTR events in an effort to break down barriers posed by the current Overall Impression system and to improve the presentation and understanding of competitive freestyle snowboarding as a whole. In a tight partnership between TTR, the World Snowboard Federation, the events, judges and riders, the Live Scoring System was developed as a completely new way to judge snowboarding.  The current system in use, called Overall Impression, focuses on a rider's run in its entirety and provides little to no feedback to riders or spectators on how a score is generated.  The new Live Scoring System is more transparent and allows everyone to clearly see how judges give points by scoring each trick individually in a rider's run.  Each trick score is added up to generate a total trick score that is then combined with a total flow score (how well a rider links all tricks in the run) to make up the final score for a rider's run.The Live Scoring system will be used for the first time in both halfpipe and slopestyle at the 2010 Burton New Zealand Open. For full event results, news, videos and updates keep your eyes glued to the http://www.ttrworldtour.com website.
