Hailing from the small town of Duluth, Minnesota, USA, and claiming Mammoth as his home mountain, 22 year old Mason Aguirre has climbed his way through the snowboarding ranks to become one of the top contenders in the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour. Learning to snowboard at age of 6 and turning pro at 15, Mason derives his strength from the strong support from his friends and family back home. He has brought to the table an aggressive approach with smooth style, enabling him to compete with the best of the best.

At most of the contests around the globe Mason can be seen shredding and competing with his crew of FRENDS that includes the likes of Danny Davis, Luke and Jack Mitrani and Kevin Pearce to name a few. What’s unique about these guys is that they know how to have fun even at the most serious of contests but when it comes down to it, they can throw down. And Mason is no different. An all round freestyle machine, Aguirre has posted countless slope and pipe results competing at every major contest from the X-Games to the 2006 Olympics and the annual TTR season ending 6Star Burton US Open.

2006 was a breakthrough season for Mason having placed fourth in the pipe at the 06 Torino Winter Olympics and third in the pipe at the 06 Burton US Open. He found his first TTR Title the following season at the 5Star Burton New Zealand open with a first in the pipe and continued his success with consistent results, including a first in the Slopestyle at the next year’s NZO, proving his versatility.

Aguirre secured a few more top ten results leading up to the 2007 US Open. In what was no doubt one of his best competitive performances, Mason hit the US Open pipe hard with the likes of fellow U.S. and Burton team riders Shaun White and Kevin Pearce. He held his own, proving to be an equal adversary to two of the best and most relentless pipe riders in recent years, stomping back-to-back 10s a corked BS 5, FS 9 and alley-oop FS 7. The 08/09 season saw similar consistency from Aguirre across the board, with Top Ten results in the early tour months down under, finishing the season in World No. 10.

But while the Midwestern native certainly keeps the competitive itch alive, he still keeps the taste of first tracks and film parts fresh on his buds putting together tasty footage for Burton’s team movies such as “Thanks in Advance” and the new flick for the 09 “B”.

Mason continues to be a dominant threat for the 09/10 Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour having started out nicely with a fourth in the Burton NZO pipe. He still has a lot of fight left him though and certainly will be one to watch during one of the most competitively dense seasons yet.
