Jamie Anderson

What’s not to love about Jamie Anderson? Great style, a determined attitude and she’s a winner. If there’s one undeniable fact about Jamie, it’s her ability to slay a contest and ride away a snowboarding champion. As it stands, Anderson of South Lake Tahoe, California, is the youngest rider to be crowned a Swatch TTR World Tour Champion and the 2007/2008 season was without doubt the defining year for the 19 year old. She bagged seven podium finishes including the 4Star Garnier Fructis Australian Open, 6Star Burton US Open and 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam Slopestyle Titles, all eventually leading to her Tour Championship title. Add to the mix a couple of X-Games gold medals and you have one of the most successful riders competing on the Tour.

The 2008/2009 season was a slightly different story for Jamie, and while it may not have yielded the same results as her previous efforts, she still managed to prove her resilience and resolve. The 2008 Southern Hemisphere showcased Anderson as the rider to beat. The 5Star Burton Australian and New Zealand Opens as well as the 3Star Billabong Snowstock 08 all saw her finish on the podium in both Slopestyle and Halfpipe competitions, claiming four titles out of the five results.

While Anderson has built a reputation as the most solid Slopestyle rider in the business, last season saw her progression climb dramatically, adapting to the demands of defending a Tour Championship title, resulting in early success in the Halfpipe. Anderson continued her success that season with a second place Slopestyle finish at the 5Star Nissan X-Trail Asian Open in Japan, but unfortunately it would be her last entry in the 08/09 tour as she succumbed to a mid season injury. While she may have been out of the championship title race, Jamie, with her high-points earnings in the early season, managed to finish third at the end of the season, setting herself up nicely for the current 2009/2010 Swatch TTR World Tour.

What exactly makes Jamie such a successful snowboarder? Three words: Versatility, style and raw talent. Ok, that’s four words, but the point stands that few rival Jamie’s tricks and board manipulation abilities. Her rail combos are buttery smooth and complex, and taking the bigger Slopestyle lines her spins are floaty, solid and offer more than your textbook 540. Her devotion to constantly out perform her opponents and progress in order to win is how she’s been able to build such an impressive competitive career.

Entering the 2009/2010 season we’ve already witnessed her success with a Slopestyle Title and Top 10 Pipe finish at the 5Star Burton NZO along with a 3Star Billabong BroDown Big Air Title. “I always love coming down to the Southern Hemisphere, good people, good town, definitely good to get a head start on the season… I’ll see how everything goes!” It follows a long list of competitions for Jamie, on and offside the TTR Tour. She does not only finish the slopestyle format of the Winter Dew Tour in the first place but also takes second place at the Winter X-Games. Back on the Swatch TTR Tour she proves her skills to her competitors again, and with a victory at the 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam US and a third place at the 6Star Burton US Open Slopestyle she managed to still become one of the hottest contestants for the TTR World Champion Title. In the end, however, it was Finnish Enni Rukajärvi who was crowned Champion after Jamie only placed 10th in the halfpipe of the Chicken Jam. Jamie finished her season in World No. 5.

TTR Billabong Slope-Style 2011 - Finals

Finnish snowboarder Roope Tonteri (FIN), 19, has defeated a field of more than 50 international riders to claim the Open Men's division of the Billabong Slopestyle 4Star TTR World Snowboard Tour event which wrapped up at Snow Park near Lake Wanaka, New Zealand yesterday.

The reigning European Open Champion dominated Qualifying on Friday and then did everything necessary on his first finals run to ensure the top-spot on the podium ahead of the USA's Sam Hulbert (USA), 2nd, and fellow Fin, Antti Autti (FIN), 3rd.

Tonteri's winning run included a frontside boardslide to front 360 tail tap, a back 900, a cab 900 and a backside 540 over the final feature dubbed the 'Monster Volcano'; a channel-gap nipple jump over a giant inflatable Monster Energy can.

The judge's score of 89.40 (out of 100) saw Tonteri walk away with 500 valuable TTR World Tour ranking points, $5,000 in prize money and a swag of prizes that included a state-of-the-art Nex5 Sony Camera.

Third placed Antti Autti (FIN), may only be 26, but joked about being the oldest guy in the finals. Autti decided to enter at the last moment, and found himself on the podium. Autti's best run consisted of a cab 900 nose grab, to frontside 1080 tail grab to frontside 720 over the Monster Volcano; with the 1080 being the first he'd pulled successfully in competition.
Two-time TTR World Champion Jamie Anderson left nothing to chance in the Open Women's, bagging yet another first place Slopestyle finish. Twenty year-old Anderson is recognized as being at the forefront of women's slopestyle progression.

Isabel Derungs (SUI) finished 2nd with Jordie Karlinski (USA) in 3rd.

Queralt has been proving herself as a force to be reckoned with in the halfpipe and now she has landed the first TTR slopestyle podium of her career.

And, at the 6Star Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck, Austria, Peetu took another second place. Just one week later, he won the 6Star Nike 6.0 Air & Style in Munich, Germany, which was the result that ended up clinching his TTR World Tour title for the 2010/11 season.Jamie dominated in the 2010/11 season claiming victories on slopestyle courses all over the globe, starting off with the 5Star New Zealand Open and the 6Star O'Neill Evolution slopestyle competitions.
