Being born in a taxi on the way to the hospital seems to have had no negative effect on Terje's physical abilities. Snowboard legend, industry leader, and in tune with the heart beat of snowboarding. Terje certainly isn’t afraid to do things his own way and do what’s best for the sport.

Terje helped pave the way for organizations like the TTR by not participating in the 1998 Winter Olympics. Cutting through all the clutter, Terje highlighted the need for a system and a multitude of events run specifically for riders, by riders.

In his earlier years, Terje destroyed the limitations of what was thought possible on a snowboard, going bigger, faster and stronger than everyone both in the pipe and on the mountain. Inspired by other great riders such as the late Craig Kelly, Terje learned of the immense possibilities and experiences one could achieve through snowboarding.

Still today, Terje’s presence is incredibly strong, participating in Swatch TTR Tour events and supporting the need for an independent and competitive snowboard community that progresses the sport to new heights and caters to the needs and wants of snowboarders from rookie to professional. Terje is also one of the founding patrons of the TTR, helping shape the tour to what it has become today.

Known as Norway’s most famous international athlete, he has an ever-growing list of wins and records ranging from 6 wins at the legendary Mount Baker Banked Slalom, 3 wins at the Burton US Open (Now a Swatch TTR 6-Star event), 5 wins at the European Half Pipe Championships, to an incredible feat at the 6Star Oakley Arctic Challenge in 2007 where he broke the quarter pipe height record, pushing it to 9.8 meters and still making it as stylish as ever with a backside 360. In 2008, Terje continued the tradition of the highly successful Arctic Challenge, pushing riders 10 years younger and going higher than most with signature style.

Competition, however, isn’t his only strength. Terje has also bagged some first descents in the mountain wilderness of Alaska. For Terje, dropping down massively steep chutes and risking it all seems to be just another day at the office and yet remains very important aspect to the complete experience of snowboarding.

His natural athleticism, determined attitude and perfect sense of his surroundings are only a handful of reasons as to why he is one of the best snowboarders in the world.
