Jye Kearney
“Jye: Australian for six foot tall fourteen year old snowboarding badass."
- Pat bridges, Editor, Snowboarder Magazine, 4/10/08
Jye Kearney is the latest Aussie export to be fast making a name for himself on the global snowboard scene, rising up the TTR ranks and gaining more and more attention. This young Aussie shredder is one of the hottest talents to emerge out of the land downunder, and with praise like the above from industry gurus, everyone knows Jye will be one to watch as he steps to the plate and pushes his riding to the max.
Jye was born and raised in Burleigh Heads on the Australian Gold Coast, where he developed a passion for the sand and surf from a very young age, but it wasn’t long before he traded the surfboard for the snowboard, and the rest is history. In 1997, at the tender age of four, Jye unintentionally was thrown into the snowboard scene when he entered a karokoke contest, took out first place and won himself a new snowboard. This “podium finish” earned Jye not only his very first snowboard, but also his ticket to ride.
With Jye’s talent apparent his family knew what had to be done, and with his family relocating to the Snowy mountains region of Australia he was able to hone his snowboarding skills and develop into one of most exciting talents of the next generation. The bar has been raised in snowboarding as we know it today with the recent double-cork rampage and Jye has spent the spring of this past southern hemisphere winter, developing ‘Jye Style’ double corks and various other insane tricks. Jye is set be huge on the international shred scene so lock up your daughters, because the ‘Pie Man’ as he is affectionately known is hitting the big time.
