What is your favorite place to ride and why?
I like riding in Ruka, because it’s the best place to ride in Finland.

What age did you start snowboarding?
I started when I was 9 years young.

What snowboarders do you most look up to?
I look up snowboarders who can ride everything and who don´t do snowboarding for the money. because snowboarding have to be fun.

What do you focus on most - Slopestyle? Pipe? Big Air? and why?
Slopestyle is my favorite cause I like variation. That’s why I am hoping for a future in which we have more contests with pipe, kickers and rails like the Burton European Open and The Nescafé Champs Open.

What is your most memorable snowboarding experience?
This was Burton European Open 2011.

Your on the road a lot throughout the season - what is your favorite place to visit and why?
My favorite place to visit is Livigno because the park is so good and I like Italian food!

What does a normal day consist of for you when your not snowboarding?
I sleep really long, eat a good breakfast and go to the gym or skateboarding, to relax I like hanging with my friends and in the evenings maybe go out for bit, but not much...

How has TTR affected your snowboarding career?
TTR is a really big thing for me because you start in small contests and through performance or invitations you can progress step by step. It’s been made so easy to join TTR contests everything is organized really well, thanks for that TTR crew!

 

 

TTR Nescafe Champs Open 2012 - Wrap Up

Blue sky and a creative slopestyle setup welcomed some of the best riders on the TTR Tour to the TTR Nescafe Champs Open 2012 in Leysin, Switzerland. In the end it was TTR Slopestyle World Ranking leader Roope Tonteri who took home the win followed by Mathias Weissenbacher and Nuutti Niemela. Roope Tonteri finishes 3rd at the 10th Red Bull Nanshan Open

Roope Tonteri (FIN) unfortunately was unable to stomp what could have been a first place run, landing a cab900 indy but reverting out on his impressive bs1260 mute attempt -- still finishing his run off in style with a switch boardslide 270out on the polejam and a lipslide 270out on the downrail, enough for third place. The TTR Worldtour Slopestyle Ranking sees Roope Tonteri still holding on to his leading position, followed now by newcomers in the top 3 Sam Hulbert an Maxence Parrot (CAN).

TTR Protest World Rookie Finals 2010 - Ischgl

The Finnish Ripper Roope Tonteri wins the Protest World Rookie Finals 2010 in Ischgl, Austria, and conquers his second World Rookie Champion Title. Among his Tricks a massive Double bs Rodeo on the final Hip. Among his prizes a freeride trip to Chile, an invitation to the Red Bull Evolution Camp in New Zealand, a film shooting with the Pirate Movie Production and a Ticket to the Air&Style Rookie Challenge 2010.Second rookie of the Event is austrian Schattschneider Clemens, followed by Sven Thorgren from Sweden. The winner of the Rookie girl category is pollish Rusin Katarzyna, followed by Gyarmati Anna from Hungary on the second position, and Silja Suitiala from Finalnd on the third.Among the Groms, born after 1995, Tim Kevin Ravnyak from Slovenia resulted the best boy, and Augustinova Diana from Czech Republic the best girl. They both win a Golden Ticket to join for all free Rookie Fest Events in 2011.Park design included 3 table tops with Jumps up to 18m, an hip and a final Jib Area. Roope Tonteri's best Run consisted of cab900, fs720, bs720 and double bs rodeo on the hip. He is also positioned n°8 on the Swatch TTR Ranking 2010, where he also hit some podiums. He is the first Rider in the History to win the World Rookie Champion Title twice.Roope, along with Tim Kevin Ravnyak, Clemens Schttschneider and Sven Thorgren, are now joining an Onboard Europe Photoshoot in Italy from 11 april untill 15 april.Click here to see the final ranking. TTR Protest World Rookie Fest 2011 Livigno - Finals

With 5 riders on the podium, Norway conquered the title of best team at the TTR Protest World Rookie Fest 2011, hosted in Livigno, Italy, at the Mottolino Snowpark. Norwegian rising star Emil Andre Ulsletten was crowned the best rider of the event and won, among the many prizes, his ticket to ride for the Oakley Arctic Challange in Oslo. Anna Gyrmati from Hungary won the girl category and got a ticket to the Rip Curl Sista Sessions in Austria.As in the past edition, the Protest World Rookie Fest was a great platform for future stars of snowboarding, and brought together almost 100 selected riders from 15 nations. With a world class snowpark and the best under 18 years riders from all over, the Protest World Rookie Fest in Livigno was once again the most awaited snowboard youth event of the season and attracted media, team managers and snowboard fans from all over Europe. Special guest of the event and Yeti of the Final Day was Roope Tonteri, former WSF World Rookie Champion, who stomped amazing tricks such as a cab 1260.

TTR Burton European Open 2011 Slopestyle Highlights

Roope Tonteri (FIN) and Jamie Anderson (USA) were victorious in Fridays slopestyle finals at the 12th annual 6Star Burton European Open taking place in Laax, Switzerland.  With her win today, earning 1000 TTR ranking points, Jamie takes over the Swatch TTR World Tour lead and put herself in an excellent position to make a move for the 2010/11 TTR World Tour Champion title.  This was Roope's first 6Star title of his career, which bolstered his spot at World No. 8 in the TTR World Tour Rankings.  In addition to earning TTR Ranking points, Roope and Jamie also walked away with a share of the huge $125,000 USD prize purse and have also both secured spots to compete in the 2012 World Snowboarding Championships taking place in Oslo, Norway in February 2012.

TTR - Roope Tonteri wins Summer Rookie Fest 2010

The Black Yeti didnt hole up, he moved to Val Senales for the Summer Rookie Fest, the only Swatch TTR summer event scheduled in the Alps. The rookie champion Roope Tonteri won after a thrilling head to head final in the slopestyle contest with new Czech talent Darek True Crail Bergmann. The competition was initially 1Star level, but was elevated to 2Star TTR after the display of rotations up to bs1260 in the qualifiers in the amazing Gentlemen Riders Snowpark.With regard to the groms, the South Tyrolean talent Markino Grigis was the best one with a frontside 1080 on the big kicker. As for the eight competing girls, all of them from the Czech Republic, the best one was the young Diana Augustinova, protagonists of the contest as well as of the parties.
