Eric Willett

What is your favourite place to ride and why?
My home mountain, Breckenridge Colorado. They've got the best parks in the world, and it's where all my friends ride.

What age did you start snowboarding?
Six years old.

What snowboarders do you most look up to?
Anyone who has fun and style. Andreas Wiig, Travis Parker, Travis Rice, Lauri Heiskari.

What do you focus on most - slopestyle? Pipe? Big Air? and why?
Slopestyle for sure. It's where I feel I can do my best and feel most comfortable. I love having the pressure of laying down an entire run.

What is your most memorable snowboarding experience?
Probably filming with BrainFarm for The Art of Flight. It's cool to see and be a part of everything that goes into such a huge project.

Your on the road a lot throughout the season - what is your favourite place to visit and why?
This place in Italy called Livigno. It has an awesome park and the town is really cool. Or Norway is rad too, that city is amazing!

What does a normal day consist of for you when your not snowboarding?
Wake up late, geek on my laptop, go for a mountain bike ride, hang with my girlfriend and friends, play video games, geek on my laptop some more, and go to bed really late.

How has TTR affected your snowboarding career?
It's definitely played a big role. Just being a part of all the 5 and 6 star events has helped a ton. You get a lot of recognition from those events. And if you can make it in top 10 at the end of the year it helps even more.

TTR O'Neill Evolution 2012 - Big Air Finals

DAVOS, 7 January 2012 - In the Swiss winter wonderland of Davos, Canadians Spencer O'Brien and Mark McMorris won the 6Star Big Air competition at the O'Neill Evolution. Gripping until the last run, Mark was followed closely by Eric Willet (USA) and Seppe Smits (BEL) in third place. Swiss rider, Sina Candrian, came second, followed by rookie Anna Gasser (AUT) in the women's competition. The women's final was extremely exciting, counting in rookies like 3rd placed Anna Gasser (AUT), leaving some experienced favorites behind. It was Anna's last run that secured her spot on the podium. With a stylish Backside 540 Mute Grab and Frontboard to 50-50 Frontside Out on the rail, she surprised everyone, including herself. Amongst a thrilled crowd of thousands, the men's final was exciting down to the last run. Eric Willett lost his first and second run lead to Mark McMorris by only 0.30 points, with Mark performing a nearly perfect Backside Double Cork 1260 Mute Grab and Gap switch hardway to 270 out on the rail. None of the finalists were holding back in going BIG, which influenced the atmosphere amongst the spectators tremendously, giving the riders the necessary energy to perform. In the Big Air Tour ranking, Eric Willett grabs the lead from Roope Tonteri (FIN). TTR Burn River Jump 2011 - Big Air Finals

Living up to its reputation, the 5Star Burn River Jump gathered a crowd of 2000 screaming fans to support the international line up of riders jumping over the Spoel river at the night time "Grand Finale" of the event in Livigno, Italy. Over a few days, during 22nd February 25th of February, 2011 this elite Italian snowboard competition ran two formats; slopestyle and big air. Kicking off with the Burn slopestyle contest in the Swatch Mottolino Snowpark, the spectators saw Norwegian Ulrik Badertscher take top honours. Ten of the best scoring riders from the slopestyle, received invites to compete in the night-time big air competition along with the invited riders and wildcards. Due to high winds that came in during the first qualification round the organizers made the decision to close the big air, and re-run the qualifications using only the " burn river jump" and the end jib section. As the course changed significantly the new format saw a 4Star TTR status. 16 riders battled it out for a place in the four man super final. The nail biting two-run knock out super final saw Norwegian duo Alexander Ostreng and Ulrik Badertscher, who both had made their way all the way from the qualifying rounds, go head to head, while Jamie Nicholls and Eric Willet battled each other. In the end it was Alexander and Eric who made it through to the final round. Aleksander nailed his first run that included a huge backside 900 over the river and a switch front lipslide 270 out in the jib section, knocking out Eric's top run consisting of a switch backside 900 and stylish boardslide. Ulrik took third place leaving rail extraordinaire Jamie in fourth. Jamie bagged the additional "Burn Jib Master" award for his rail trickery. With the two podium placements Ulrik Badertscher leaped up in the Swatch TTR ranking and now sits in World No. 14, while Jamie Nicholls jumped into World No. 28.
